Sick, but it does'nt look any sacry at all, it is still survival horror right ?

-
Looks cool but... I never thought I'd complain about a woman's clevage. But man, that's distracting and feels a bit "oh you nerds love this don't ya?".
I'm surprised since they are shooting for a lengthy and deep...
relationship with her. -
-
Looks absolutely amazing.
-
bioshock wasn't survival horror, it was just survival
-
Nah it was definitely survival horror. The game was clearly designed to creep you out more than a few times, with the splicers' darting in and out of dark cover a particularly memorable mental torture of mine.

-
The Houdini splicers (the guys that could teleport) and the mannequins scared me. Then again, I'm a bit of a wimp

-
Well Bioshock never scared me while System Shock 2 made me shit my pants, the Hydroponics level and the whole Rickenbacker were amazing for that.
Bioshock was designed as a game with scary bits that's for sure, even if these bits failed to scare me, but I won't say it was designed as a survival horror in the first place.
On to Bioshock Infinite, it's looking really amazing but that trailer is too short!

I couldn't play SS2 back in the day (so scary), but i was younger. Nowadays the last thing i would be somewhat frightened by (not for entire expierience though:( ) was penumbra and amnesia.

To be BioShock isn't completely anything. It's a mish-mash of styles and genres, one of which is most definitely survival horror.

-
BioShock 1 wasn't survival horror. Why wasn't it, you ask? If it was, I wouldn't be able to play it because I'm a complete coward.
It's a shooter with the occasional scare. IMHO.
And man... it's a shame Bioshock Infinite is coming out 2012. 'Cause I'm really pumped for it right now

when i think horror, i think stalker games. bioshock had its moments where it startled you, but it didnt convey the dread stalker continues to do in every single fucking game. it might have to do with the setting not being realistic, and so it becomes more of a "oh hey, it's a new world so it's probably supposed to happen this way", whereas the environments in stalker are very similar to things i have seen, and so every time im in poland i keep thinking there's a secret mutant hideout in every abandoned building.
-
Survival horror doesn't really exist anymore and Bioshock ain't one of the last.

Relevant to this tangent.
Quote from WikipediaSurvival horror is a subgenre of action-adventures video game inspired by horror fiction. These games make the player vulnerable by providing them with less ammunition and fewer heavy weapons than other action games. Although combat can be a part of the gameplay, the player is in various ways made to feel less powerful than in typical action games, because of limited ammunition, health, speed, or other limitations. The player is also challenged to find items that unlock the path to new areas, and solve puzzles at certain locations. Games make use of strong horror themes, and the player is often challenged to navigate dark maze-like environments, and react to unexpected attacks from enemies.

If you played Bioshock (1 or 2) and exploited every single hack you could, you'd be swimming in ammunition and Eve.
But it surely took a determined mind to play and win through EVERY hacking mini-game in Bioshock 1.

-
Yea they gave you tons of stuff, though in the middle portions of the game items were more scarce.
By the end I was so powerful the final "boss" was a joke not even as difficutl to beat as the very first splicer in the game was.
I loved bioshock 1, didn't play 2 since the idea of being a suit-guy didn't appeal to me. I think I'm gonna keep myself somewhat spoiler free for infinite since it looks so amazing.
-
Bioshock 2 is definately a step up in terms of gameplay fluidity (the ability to use a plasmid-gun combo is amazing) but there's credit to the first game cumbersome method of switching back and forth between plasmids and guns. And thank god they made the hacking more enjoyable... I mean the pipe-mania mini game is fun, but if you want to crack every safe, turret and camera in the game you are in for a treat...
The first game's story is, however, still staple in quality, length and integration. Sure the audio logs are somewhat ridiculous (why does EVERYONE keep an audio diary... and why is it scattered around everywhere), but the way the story unfolds is fantastic.

The 2 is fucking good. Eated it in 5 days
. +1 with Arhurt, the 2 is more pleasant to play. -
