THIS game is a sequel to the first game, a game that was powered by the Quake III engine originally...

Do we get it now? I didn't know that the new game is Unreal powered but I knew the old one was ID Tech 3.

    JESUS.

If only you worded it as well as that to begin with. You made it sound like the new one was on Id tech 3.

D3's punctuation is correct, give him a break If he didn't put a comma there and used "and" instead, then you'd have issues..

    The screenshots look lovely.

And the original does look better on a whole than that screenshot, Dark! Typically much more colorful. Although a google search does turn up surprisingly few screenshots. Here's a few more

The use of colored lighting in the first one was superb. Brushwork was amazing as well! The new one is a very welcome announcement, I hope it turns out as good as the first! Looks like its in capable hands!

me to, for me it's still one of the top gaming experiences I've had (the whole game that is), so I'm looking forward to see what they made of the sequel.

    The screenshots look promising.

most fairy tales were purposefully constructed/designed to hold moral values that adults wanted to install into their misbehaving childrens minds !

a lot of them like max and moritz or struwwelpeter ( yeah the really hardcore ones i think only exist in german ^^ ) end with the kid protagonist characters getting mamed in some horrible way !

clearly with the hope that the kids get scared shitless with the prospect of that horrible life altering injury. and change their behavior !

this attempt at mass mind manipulation/indirect threatening of children who can not yet think for them-selfs is ... disgusting and wrong !

fairy tales are basically pulling the same manipulation stunt as religion does ... so yeah ... FUCK FAIRY TALES !

You got a valid point, except that when children grow up they actually need this kind of shit. And if its wrapped in a golden wrapper that makes the whole experience super-awesome then I'm all for it.

But then again, fairy tales-games also ppeal to adults if you get more freedom in them, kind of like naughy bear I'd play a triple-a game as little red riding hood with a machinegun

I personally find fairy tale games quite intriguing because they take something intrinsically associated with innocent childhood and often turn it into something very dark and unsettling. Nice contrast.

Goths and emos tend to love that shit too. I see this game doing well within those crowds.

Warby I think my misunderstanding is a cultural one. Most people in the US don't know that popular fairy tales started out the way you described them. I only learned about it in college and found it really interesting. It would be like if someone told you Barbie dolls were originally manufactured to be used as weapons.

I could see how growing up being told fairy tales in a moral context would suck but I think it would suck even more to have parents who would do that to their children. Fairy tales make really good fiction and most good games rely on good fiction. The Assassins Creed storyline, especially the characters and architecture in 2, relied heavily on Christianity.

I read a feature in a gaming magazine, new media look very impressive and details of the game seem to suggest it's more than a retreading of the first game

God I hate those flash websites. Looking forward to the game, though! Been too many disappointments this year. Don't need another.
