Needs better download mirrors, I'm getting a whopping 130KBps, which is pretty slow for a ~800MB file

I just came back to say you should get a torrent up or something. I would seed it for a little while.

It's been 15 minutes and I'm not even at 50%

In the last half hour I've gotten 260MB. I'd totally help seed this in a torrent, I've got 25Mb upload.

Just tried it, and I don't like it. Most maps are dark as hell, even the hud is dark- I had a hell of a time trying to see the gun I was buying, and the names for the vast majority meant nothing to me, and apparently the gun stats are broken or something because all of them had 0 DPS listed, so I just had to randomly experiment. Never really found success outside limited progress with the sole shotgun available (which is fucking weird in a mod all about having as many guns as possible), though I kept getting sniped by guys hiding in dark corners I couldn't see into, or shot from close up by guys I still couldn't see, or blown up by grenades I didn't see. If you told me the server I had played on had admins running around invisible fucking with people I'd be inclined to believe you, that's how bad the visibility thing was. Also the different team character models don't look very different and the friendly icon fades out past like 30 feet, and the name popup too eventually, so I would also waste ammo on friendlies or ignore enemies who would go on to snipe me.

Basically it felt like the first time I played Counterstrike.

I used the nightvision in a couple of the maps, but it made IFF even harder. I could see (with less difficulty at least) that guys were there, but couldn't tell who they were until after they were shooting at me. At least, as far as I can tell, there's no friendly fire.

Really, really enjoying it. I don't play a ton of multiplayer PC games but this kind of has me.

FF is a server variable so it's up to the server op whether it's on or off. In the old FA days, I think maybe 10% of the servers had FF on.

We're there any maps in particular you found worse lighting-wise than the others?

glad to hear you like it mat

I'm not sure of the names but I think it was called rubble or ruins or something like that, it was the first map I played and all the indoor areas were pitch dark, both the church and tunnels. The outdoor areas were fine, but small. The next map after that (no idea the name, you spawned, jumped down a ledge onto a truck, ran past a tank with two flags onto it, through a tunnel, and that went around an S and exited out into the center of the map) wasn't too dark, but once the enemy team took the center and started camping that tunnel out of our base we were irrevocably fucked and it was pretty much spawn camping until we ran out of tickets. The next map after that was caves and looked like suddenly we jumped engines back to Goldsrc, and it was also really super dark.

Ah gotcha, all those 3 maps are actually remakes of maps from the original. I will pass that info along. Thanks

You know, I gotta say man, it's really refreshing to have a modder not get super ultra defensive and insulting when someone has an issue with his product. I tried a STALKER CoP mod recently and it broke my game- load times quintupled and tons of stuttering ingame. I posted about it in a CoP thread on SA (in a post covering a few different mods I had tried out separately) and the mod maker quoted me and called me an idiot and said he was glad I wasn't playing his mod. It probably didn't help that I laughed at the mod's readme claiming the mod has rebalanced mutant damage and health "to be more realistic"
