So will you be able to afford an animator soon?

I was also very impressed. I liked the overall feel of the game, the jumping, movement and hack/slash all felt appropriate. I liked how vertical the city got and how you can explore around. I stopped playing after landing the ship in the harbor. I'm not really a fan of the type of games where you go around and have to talk to everyone (even great games that use this like mass effect bore me after a while) so it was no fault of the game. It's got a very spyro meets basic RPG thing going on which again isn't my style but I could see kids especially enjoying it because of the graphics. If the game held your hand more and was actively making you do things instead of passively inviting you to do new things (collect quests) I would probably have played longer.

I filled out the survey but FIX THE COMMENTS FIELD in it. You can only fit like a dozen words. I had to come back to mapcore to write kind of informative review. Also in the survey I found myself checking a box but having a lot of if/but reservations about what I chose, for example the how much would you pay question. If it was a full game with a developed story at 5 hrs I would expect over $20 . If it was more of a 5 hours worth of mini games game I would expect more in the $10-15 range.

Do you mean the "additional comments" field? It fits 792 characters! Thanks for putting so much effort into giving extensive feedbackthough, we appreciate it! All of your comments actually, thanks!

Wow I just tried to recreate the issue I was having by reopening the survey and this time it works. Must have been a fluke. What was happening was if I typed more text than the length of the box it wouldn't shift the view to show me what I was typing.

Anyway yeah, very fun game. Good luck.

    Pros:Looks great

Smooth as a greased frying pan

Double jumping around like an idiot is rather enjoyable

The start was fun, shooting the cannons

Bringing your ship in with the remote was pretty groovy to watch. Even if I had to spam my keys to find out the right buttons!

The island was really cool to explore, I'd like some more floating rocks to platform on and stuff though. Can you get on top of the Observatory? I'd like to be able to go high up and look down at the island.

    Cons:

The camera moved around too much on the intro scenes, I felt sick

Your sword attacks knock away the pickups, gets annoying having to fetch them when they fall off an edge

Everyone walks around like they have a broom up their ass

Too much dialogue at times, I found myself just skipping through it on occasion

    Display More

Solid feedback, thanks And yes you can get to the top of the observatory. Theres actually 7 different "light houses" which you can activate, and one of them is at the top of the observatory. I'm not gonna tell you how to get up there, but its very similar to activating the light houses

Also, there are maps around the island, and if you look close you can see that they have the locations of the 7 light houses.

There aren't 7 different dungeons in the prototype though, so don't get your hopes up lol

wow guys!! This is just a prototype but what is there already I can see as a great start for something huge. I loved exploring the island, not many games these days let you explore the world on your on pace and this is very nice! I also love how the city has different areas and stuff, that will allow to some nice NPC interactions in the future. You should definitely check out The Misadventures of Flapjack, it's my favorite cartoon atm and could steal a lot of ideas!

At first I thought the camera movement was a bit weird but I got used to it quickly. I didn't play the game with a 360 controller though, I'm not at home now. The game sorft of reminds me of Mini Ninjas, and I don't know, perhaps this is the structure Mini Ninjas needed to be more fun? I mean, having a hub where you can go back to anytime a-la mario galaxy?

    Areas that need improvement imo:

    - The text boxes/NPC conversation system look a bit ugly. I think you could try something akin to Animal Crossing: The camera zooms in showing both the player and the NPC facing each other with text balloons on the bottom of the screen:

    - I missed some atmospheric effects on the city. Fog, volumetric effects on the distance, wind gusts etc... the city itself feels a bit sterile because of the lack of such effects.

Congrats again you guys are hugely talented and games like that renew the faith that I picked the right career for my life! I can't wait to see where you guys are going to take this!

    Positives

    • * Responsive and comfortable controls.
      * Exploring the island was fun.
      * The environments and the level design was varied and fun. I love the fresh, colorful graphics.
      * If this game gets made I will buy it.

    Negatives (nitpicking mostly i guess)

    • * Enemies hit faster than I'm able to block. They also seem to be blocking when you're hitting them from behind (?).
      * Some of the NPCs could have said something more interesting than "I'm busy".
      * Since it's a prototype it's obvious there's no voice acting, however i can't help but think something like

would be awesome and doable. (ok, maybe not burping, but some sort of audio feedback).
    * I feel like the grappling hook should have been a reward for something, it felt too generous of the game to give it right away.
    * Since it's possible to edit the input this is probably not very valid criticism, but I didn't like having slash attack on X so that I can't move the camera while using the sword. I'm guessing maybe lock-on or semi-auto movement would be in a retail version.
    * I didn't see the two wheels in front of the treasure chamber.
    * At the volcanic island where you call your ship; I thought I was going to call it again at the platform before the two grappling hook-balloons. The distance looked like it was supposed to be covered by my ship. What is your target audience by the way? The game definitely has potential for younger audiences (the grappling hook-chains part might have been a bit too hard), even better if you could customize your ship (which I guess you have probably planned for). I love platformers, there's too few of them these days.

Very impressive guys! I sent the link around the studio here and everyone was really praising the game for it's awesome graphics. Exploring the city is a great thrill, very inspiring!

Little details like the girl drawing the robot's shop on the ground and the overall attention to detail make this a winner!

Our target audience is 5 to 50 If you look closely at the enemies they draw back their spear and leave you a very large opening to block. Maybe in the full game we'll implement different degrees of difficulty. If we get to make the full game

I'm very impressed by the levels to be honest. Compared to the other aspects of the game that feel pretty rough, the environments are well-thought, detailed and colorful. Great stuff! The few nitpicking stuff I could report have been mentionned by others.

    I liked the ending,

riding on the gold tha'ts spilling into the ship was a great touch

I really hope you guys end up making it into a full game, it's definitely has lots of potential!

Just finished playing the prototype and it's sweet as hell! It's clear you guys like this type of games yourselves and aren't just producing something for a lame casual target audience. It's nice when a game isn't telling you what you should do all the time, like the case with most games today, but rather lets you explore and play your way through and do things as they come along, and actually reward you when you explore your environment. Will definitely buy this if you make a full game out of it

Best of luck with this gem!

btw, i played with a 360 controller and it was a bit tedious to have to rotate the camera in to position all the time
