i have never ever in my life experienced getting cut off because i am holding my phone different.
I think the main issue here isnt that it drops, but that it drops dead.

You can already get Espgaluda 2 on the iPhone and, despite the small touch sensitive screen, it plays really well. This was almost enough to make me buy one. Now Cave just announced
for the iPhone, and possibly the earlier titles in the series. I know mapcore doesn't really get excited for this stuff, but it's an amazing game in the succession of titles that created and lead the bullet puke shmup subgenre. i came to my real home for a week and have been making a lot of phone calls and doing stuff and i'm consistently having people tell me over the phone that i'm hard to clear, breaking up and ultimately drop the calls. even when i hold the phone with my right hand, very high up. its incredibly frustration. also, i live on long island which is extremely populated and you'd expect to have great service however i was in 2 separate places yesterday and had absolutely no service. i had a suspicion that i had lower than normal bars so i stole my dad's 3gs for a while and drove around and i consistently had one or two bars less on the 4, and this is without touching either phone. i'm starting to get unhappy and i doubt that a case will resolve this. i don't see the 4 as much of an upgrade to a 3gs and if this continues bothering me maybe i'll downgrade to the 3gs.

or get a droid and enjoy the world of open source and great reception.

Just got it. It's sleek as hell and thinner than I expected. Awesome. My contract is moving from another carrier so it takes a week to activate.
-
Had a quick go with it yesterday when I was running around sorting out a replacement for my one day old 3gs (speaker went). Yea its a lot smaller than I though but more than happy with a 3GS tbh. Can't really afford or justify the extra cash for one.
-
Even though I ordered (or rather, reserved) just after they started taking orders, I still wont be getting one at launch. As usual it seems that Denmark is getting ridiculously few, it's the 3G and 3GS launch all over again. Hopefully I wont have to wait a month this time though.
-
Got my contract activated today and tried the "death grip" right away, I couldn't repro it so it loses all signal. It dropped like 1-2 bars when I touch the magic spot.
-
Try putting your finger over the black strip while you're on a call and you'll probably find the call drops. I do, anyway.

-
-
Well I guess it depends on the signal. I only get two or three bars where I work so it's usually enough to knock me off depending on conditions. I've now mastered the art of just not touching it though so I've not had any loss in a couple of weeks.

-
did you guys order your free cases or is that a us only thing? mines still got a month to ship

-
Yeah, long waits on most of them though due to epic demand.
-
Finally it became my number in the queue, just ordered it. 32GB black.

-
Hmm, still haven't received a mail saying that they've actually shipped the phone, but I've heard cases of em just sending em without any notification. Kinda odd.
Anyway, sat an played around with one of my colleagues' iPhone 4 today. Sat and made a side by side comparison with my 3G, it's just staggering how much better the screen is. I was desperately trying to make out pixels, and ended up with a headache

Can't wait!
-
I didn't get an email, just had a small inconspicuous box show on my steps one day

I've had my iPhone4 for 3 weeks or so now...and in general it was a huge step up from my old 3G model. The 3GS is certainly faster than the 3G, so i was extra pleased at the iPHone4's speed in the OS and running apps. As for reception, I have noticed some dropped calls more often even with a case, but shit it is the price you pay. In the long run I may get less attached to the Apps when enough stuff is on the Droid OS, but for now I'm happy. On the plus side, I sold my old 3G as well as my wife's old 3G, both for cash that essentially made the upgrades to both our iPhone4's almost free.
