Hey guys. Here is my portfolio.

Any and all feedback on my work, portfolio, or both would be appreciated.

I am currently looking for a level designer position as well.

    Thanks!

I quited when the site was loaded on 51%

I don't mean it bad but some people don't have patience and don't want to wait on the site to load.

You've put a lot of hard work to make the flash version but seriously a lot of people don't like flash sites. Loading time is way to long and I don't like the colors - the contrast is too low - the white elements after the loading are nice. There are a lot of stuff there but it have a weird categories. You have titles of levels and "Modelling" where titles of models are. Maybe create a category "Levels" or "Level Design" / "Modeling" or "3D Models and Animation" and so on...

That took me almost 2 minutes to reach 68%! The download speed never went above 110kb/sec. You need to ditch the flash, no potential employer or possibly even general curious person like myself is willing to sit there and wait for it to load.

A portfolio with 7mb, flash, slow host... Good luck getting a job mate.

Gotta agree with the others: flash is bad, heavy website in flash is very bad.

But even if, let's say, you converted it all to HTML/CSS, I would still have critics on the layout itself:

I'm also not sold on the font you used for your menus, it's a bit too "book-ish", but that's only personal opinions of course.

Ditch the flash interface. A lot of people who review applications will spend about 30 seconds looking at each one and it took longer than that for the site to load.

Ditch the flash as everyone said, it takes way too long to load and the site if a nightmare to navigate. I've read through some of the portfolio guides here on mapcore and they helped me a lot.

My advice is to strip it down to the bare essentials. Imagine that you are an employer and you have to look through dozens of applications. Are you going to sit and read pages of story, or would you prefer concise information with a few pictures that show the key points and the strongest examples? I just think there's too much and it's a bit too cluttered. I hate to repeat what everyone else said but the loading times really were too long. You could have a similar website in HTML only.

every game developer or other person in the industry will tell you not to use flash for a portfolio. it has a lot of reasons.

you should take a look at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=65&p=260518

Erm... Yes, you need to have at least 3 more loaders that takes up to 10 minutes each to load, and finally when you get to the website itself it needs to have a even more non-friendly flash interface that no one knows how to use and struggles to see your portfolio!

So yeah, we're NOT on the same page, did you even read the feedback that people posted? Along with very useful links with shitloads of information on how to make a neat and friendly online portfolio?! I don't think you did.

    Yeah, or something.

Well, in that case please ignore my post, I failed to spot the sarcasm in your words.

No worries HP I failed to realize that I shouldn't make my portfolio site in flash till about the 8th or 9th post telling me not to use flash. Well on second thought, I might need a few more flash hating posts just to make sure. (<- sarcasm!)

Anyways, I used flash to create my portfolio site because I know how to use flash. I'm not a web designer so any help you guys can give on getting my site switched over to a more user friendly design would be welcome.

honestly sometimes it amazes me how people judge your webdesign skills on this portfolio section more than the work your showing :/ Most people I know (including myself) who got a job in the industry had a few screenshots to show, maybe times are changing but unless your applying for a web designers position I wouldnt lose sleep over it.

That being said, I got a pro to make my website and it payed off within a week of being online ;P
