That is a subaverage intellectual statement, something I wouldn't expect from you, Sentura :/

i don't care what you think about the statement, because it's the sad truth. people want war (albeit perhaps in a more tribal way), the same way people want to argue or create challanges, for the same reasons. the reason we're still seeing so much war, hatred, etc. is because it is in our nature, and it is how we cope with how mundane and trivial our lives have become.

In regards to this video, this situation sucks all-around. I don't think these WO's legally broke ROE, but if they had a brain they would've known better. I'm sure they where fresh out of rucker and were looking to 'play metal gear for real'... Having said that, this doesn't necessarily fall on their shoulders, as an officer cleared them to fire... What I would like to know is if he was in the air/had a visual feed or if he was just relying on verbal confirmation of a threat.

You know, your first statement would've made sense if you were referring to ancient times, when "war" was either about fighting over the best fields to cultivate or there were just a bunch of young men assaulting a town for fun, beating each other a bit with swords and stuff, just for the thrill. Just like young men today engage in senseless brawls (hooligans) or do other, less violent stuff to cope with frustration or to release/reduce their aggressions. It's simply an outlet. That doesn't mean that violence, and war with all the suffering and damage it creates in particular, is a part of human nature. I don't see how it even can be a way of expressing displeasure against powerlessness or whatever. War nowadays is the exploitation of common men in favour of the interests of few. If peace really did bring frustration to people - as a socialogical rule - we would've had several wars here in Europe in the last 50 years.

how is it not part of our nature? look at our history, we've had war since the beginning of time; and even then, it's not just been us. look the the relationship between animal species, especially primates. don't you think if we were supposed to not have wars/conflicts, we wouldn't have them in the first place? things don't just mysteriously appear out of nowhere, and neither does conflict.

Here's some photos from the "Crisis in Kyrgyzstan." Didn't want to create a new thread. Be warned that the hidden pictures are dead people.

Since the beginning of agriculture and land seizure actually, if one wants to believe Daniel Quinn. Which really does explain a lot.

Of course, I don't deny that. However violence is not a natural, instinct-driven imperative like the sex drive for example. Violence can be avoided, conflicts can be resolved otherwise.

they can, but at a loss of stimuli and an increase of frustration. i'm not saying you can't avert conflict in a peaceful manner, i'm just saying we weren't built for that. we also take much more energy and conscious thinking to resolve a conflict in a non-violent manner than a violent. so yes, it is in our nature. we want the stimuli. we want violence.

and we've had conflict before agriculture.

Well iraq war was a sad incident in all over the world and the effects of that war was remain till the current date. Actually this is the wrong decision of the American government to take a war with the iraq. Saddam Husain was the enemy and they punish whole Iraq. That was not good.

Yeah, war only makes it worse, in our days nobody want to talk, it's better to kill the opponents instead of ask them what they want...

Good lord this comment pisses me off for some reason. You know what these extremist groups want? Death to Americans/infidels. (also notice how I DID NOT say Iraqi's)

But then again my position on this war hasnt changed since the beginning. You, me, and any other citizen in the world doesnt have even close to enough information available to make any sort of viable opinion about this war, there are just wayyyy too many hidden politics and inner workings to make any plausible position. And I really dont want to hear "its people killing people and thats bad!" because I can sure as hell tell you this isnt the only killing in the world going on right now, or ever.

Also, Im not attacking you, that comment just instigated my political frustration for some reason

As if that means that killing people isn't bad. It just means more bad. I also really don't buy the whole 'we can't really judge' thing because we have to as good as we can, because we have to vote for the people that want to continu this war or for the ones that don't. Even though this judgement may be based on almost nothing.

Life was always a war, what changes is the goal of each battle.

Over the years we had one of the most stupid goas (Oil for blood) and the most heroic ones, like the Bastille episode.

Never should have pity for people, you can conker the world to someone, it will never be a guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

About the photos, I didnt feel a shit for the people in there. I remember when I was ~19, I began to realize that my behavior with the others was not being the appropriate in this world of disputes, i was to gentle with people. At that moment I began to transforme my heart into a rock and I did it. Today, i'm sure it was the greatest change i made in my fuckin life.

that sounds kinda bitter... I think there's a huge difference in feeling sorry for someone or feeling responsible for the griefs of someone else.
