Fallout (New Vegas)

Half life still looks good to me.
Anyway put about 8 hours into this so far and loving it. It's certainly ugly in places but everything else makes up for it. And its certainly harder to level, I'm only level 7.

AAA games get shipped with more than 1000 bugs sometimes. Just not A bugs, obviously.
-
The only significant bug I've ran into was the people at the 188 rest stop suddenly going aggro on ED-E out of nowhere. It was preceded by a minute by some NPC idly commenting on ED-E ("That eyebot looks like it's been through hell"), so now I get nervous whenever anyone else mentions ED-E.
-
Played it a bit this morning, really liking it so far. Haven't come across any real bugs yet, and it looks a bit better than Fallout 3, which isn't really saying a lot.
I wasn't expecting much, but now it's grown enough on me that I really look forward to playing it again.

Anyone taken on the Legendary Deathclaw yet? Tough SoB.
P.S Brotherhood > everyone.

So, mapcore approves of this game?
-
It's like all the other obsidian games.
Also if think the game sucks try to play at least till novac, the game gets significantly more interesting afterwards.

That's where I'm at. Was trying to clear the basement of the rocket place from the stealthboy supermutants, forgot what they're called... But that shit is hard. Had a revelation just to keep planting mines all over the fucking place and let them blow themselves up, but haven't had time to play it again. I have a feeling I won't be playing any games for the next 2 months

i'm stuck currently.
Quotei'm at the for the republic, part 2, and i can't seem to finish the quest unless i kill every motherloving khan... which is not something i want to do. i've already done the oh my papa quest (i did it before i got for the republic, part 2). i looked over some hints and the best i could get at was to killed papa in his sleep. it doesn't work though, neither the quest or the ncr lady do anything. i've been told that i'm supposed to talk to regis, but he only has the option of "goodbye".
any tips?

Killed him by just throwing Holy Hand Grenades around the corner into his lair. I COULD take it on probably with good luck for crits and using my best guns, but I figured if this wasn't a good enough usage of holy hand grenades there just isn't one in the entire game. I have to force myself not to fall into the old "Oh this weapon is powerful/this ammo's rare, I shouldn't use it unless I REALLY need to *finishes Doom with max BFG ammo*" habit.

Started playing New Vegas last weekend. Is it just me or is this game vastly inferior to Fallout 3? I'm 6 hours into it and I already lost all my interest. I'll try to keep on playing to see if grows on me (Fallout 3 took maybe 7 or 8 hours to really grow on me). Here are my grips with it:
* This game is easy. I'm only 6 hours into it and I can already kill most people with a single headshot using VATS. This is so ridiculous that I can already score headshots from quite a distance with ease. I don't have many points in the gun skill and I'm using pretty a average weapon (9mm pistol). The only time I have died so far was when I was attacked by a pack of geckos when I was on level 2. Oh and I also have a robot companion (that I fixed using spare parts even though my repair skill is pretty low) that has an infinite laser gun. I'm seriously considering abandoning this guy somewhere because the game got ridiculously easy since it started hanging out with me.
* The plot is pretty boring so far. It started off much much worse than Fallout 3 imo. I always heard that this game was more similar to Fo2 than Fo3 but the only similarities I'm seeing are cosmetic. The dialogue trees are one sided most of the times, which means that roleplaying element is close to zero. You just pick random questions and your answers always have the same result in the end. That first city is so boring and lifeless that I feel like going over there and killing everyone. Check out how many dialogue options are available in a common Fo2 conversation:
* This game is ugly. And I mean it. I won't even talk about the environment assets because it's pretty clear how bad they are but for some reason the devs completely screwed the day night cycle. Fo3 was awesome in this regard - I usually found myself watching the sunset or the night sky in Fo3, but in New Vegas this is non existent. The sky is always purple, no matter what time it is.External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. Sure you can cook your own food but why care about that if you can buy food for really cheap in bars? You also need to go to campsites to cook food and they are pretty scarce.External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. WJAT, i'd take new vegas over FO3 any day
-
This game is low shit !
-
Yeah, New Vegas wasn't that interesting from the get-go, and once you get to the Strip and find out the big reveal
QuoteIS THE SAME FUCKING THING AS FALLOUT 3 WITH A MAJOR CHARACTER BEING A COMPUTER
, I uninstalled it.
Boring story and world, really bad animations, lackluster environment art, minor game play improvements over Fallout 3, and just a general lack of the WOW factor that was present in FO3.
This is why I'm not a big fan of Obsidian. They take really good franchises like NWN, KOTOR, and now FO and produce a really mediocre title that mars the franchise for me.

I just couldn't get into New Vegas either... loved F3 though.
And yes, the plot is shit. The game totally died for me after reaching New Vegas...
-
It's a miracle that I actually managed to get through New Vegas, really had to drag myself to the finish line
