i conur with the 2nd angle, mostly because of the right side of the picture (the steep road/walkway looks better).

Holy fuck... that's badass! Which engine are you running this? don't tell me it's source...

I like the second shot, but the left part of the pic looks empty.

My favourit is the third shot, but the right part of the pic looks a little empty as well.

Gotta love those reflections in the water! <3

It's Unreal 3. I concur on the second shot also. The stairs lead your eye up to the boat nicely. The surrounding areas on the cliffs and so forth should be a little darker blue in my opinion, not much, just a little so the burning ship is slightly more distinguishable.

Agree you should lead the attention to the boat more, and maybe rotate it just slightly to show it off from its side just a tad more. It does look ace though

it looks great but the trees tile pretty obviously. might fit that into the polycount to have another variation there.

From a photographic standpoint, don't use any but the first shot. The second shot contains too much unnecessary information around the edges (like you used a wider angle lens) The second shot also has a weird bit of rock sticking out the side (on the right) and makes for some weirdness. The third shot contains a large ass black spot on the right which contains no detail and is actually very distracting.

I'm agree with Jean-Paul, the first shot look better than the other !

I really like the composition with the stair on the right and the hill on the left. You should not change anything.

Thanks for the feedback guys! im going to work on it this weekend and try and improve it, im not sure how I can combat their being too much yellow, nor how to seperate the boat more from the background more than I already have, but i will try. Ok so it seems the 1st shot is better but I still need to pick another angle for the comp, the thrid shot was an attempt at that, but ima guessing not many people like it?

For some reason whenever I think about the image, I think it'd stand out with a ice blue sky in the background (Instead of the orange), which would really make the fire pop.... Maybe something to try, will probably look like bleh though.

    Edit:

    Nevermind this looks like crap.

Terribly sorry to use Imageshack but I can't get anything else to load here right now.

Though it might look better if it wasn't photoshop + hue/sat adjustment and the eraser tool.

I see a lot more blue now, which is kind of good.

But the torches doesnt illuminate anything, which is weird.

Should I have url-linked it? I'm not Briscoe ... I just photoshopped his image to try out my idea which would make the burning boat pop more.

    Really amazing piece Robert.

I also think that the first composition is the best, although the subject matter is quite far away.

it doesn't convey the same narrative as robert wrote in his first post. saving the world from darkness and seeing the rising sun has much more symbolism than a clean night sky.

Do you think there is too little contrast? Should I make the buildings darker?

A temple room with a portal device at one end and some more photo source texture work.

    [Blocked Image: http://www.simonoc.com/images/design/…f1dx3l_1024.jpg]

Recently I created a new stone trim texture and loved it so much I decided to paint the whole room with it, but unfortunately forgot about the overall colour palette and ended up with a very mono styled look instead. So to change this I created a classic split red/white marble combo and here is a before and after shot with the changes, any thoughts? preferences? Would you add more colour? Are you a before or after person?

Wow there's a real Quake feel in here, great work!

I personnally prefer the red/white version, it looks better.

I'd say your priorities are out of order.
