    Yea yea I didn't really have much time left considering that all I did now already took me 3-4 hours to make. But if I have some spare time I'll make better speculars...

    And thanks for the tips DvS! It'll be useful. The fog was just a test though...

    It's very quick to make a specular alot better than what crazybump can produce. When I want a quick specular I just make a layergroup over the diffuse in photoshop and in it I put one desaturation and then one masked levels-layer for each different material in the diffuse. Then just adjust the levels depending on the material that is masked. Usually I also put some desaturated photomaterial on top on overlay to get some added detail. 3-5 mins tops and always a workable result.

    Thought I'd register on this site to show off my masterpiece

    No seriously its my first map ever with Hammer. Well, to be honest I made a cube with a few brushes once in Hammer and compiled it and released it after about 2 hours of work or something, you can imagine that wasn't much of a map. So actually yes, it's my first real map , obviously still very early WIP.

    Definetely not bad for a first map, you have some unaligned textures though (ceiling) and your floor texture is just TOO clean and shiny in my opinion

    Hah, yes but there will be overlays, decals and props coming up on the floor soon so I'll add a bit of debris. Also not sure if I can keep the shiny floor since it is very demanding at the minute...

    As for aligning the textures for the ceiling I'll probably have to rotate them right?

    And yeah just rotate them so that they fit in the brush.

    For the beams you would select the faces pointing downwards and whilst you're holding down ATL, right-click the side faces. They'll be perfectly aligned.
