going with the flow: the grass looks shit

srsly though copying the same trees looks a bit like overkill and im not sure why, but that watchpost looks sort of out of the picture... otherwise pretty nice, and the grass between the tiles, that's something nobody cared about before, so nice touch there

Nice stuff rick. Don't use displacement for the metal plates though, source can't handle lighting on displacements very well.

It can (sometimes). Just lower the lightmap scale and subdivide it loads.

The grass looks odd, also I can really tell what kind of structure it is Keep it up though.

I've decided to start my art map from scratch. This makes it easier for myself and will inevitably make the map better for the end-user.

So, I've came up with this layout. The old one lacked flow and had far too many hallways, was a bit messy and overcrowded.

No overlapping rooms? Just from a top down view, it seems the game play could be a bit flat. What sort of theme are you going for?

The same theme; A grand mansion. Obviously it won't be flat but you can't really show that on a 2D overview.

There's going to be a lot of vertical combat for sure and I am planning to have two floors in some areas.

It will make more sense when it's actually made. The overview is just to see how the general layout will flow.

force the normals of your grass to aim UP than it will look much less ODD and much more monoton like the trees in wanda ... people will bitch about that aswell but its the lesser of 2 evils

The grass between the cracks or the grass around the platform?

If I had the time I would go back and make a lot of changes but I don't really have time to do that - the grass models will eventually be edited for the mod they're going in but for me I can't be bothered - just wanted a little something to put in my portfolio - but I ran out of time to work on it when I found out the house I'm in is going to be sold and I have to figure out some place to live :S

as far as i know, portfolio is a colletion of Your best pieces, so puting 'little something' into it is unreasonable

It might look like it, but it's actually the grass between the floor tiles rotated with antialising!
