    i meant to say the freeway is not working, my bad. but from your reference you can see the enormous scale of everything. i don't think a canal _or_ a main road is a bad idea, just combining them in such a small space makes it feel wrong.

    i'm sure it wouldn't take much to just widen the map along the middle.

    Yea, thinking about a pedestrian only area at least on one side (starting side most likely), could get much more of the street vib you see in that photo and get rid of the freeway on the other. Yea would take all of 2 mins to make the middle area wider. Really didn't think enough about the opportunities that area offers.

    Neato. Here's an idea, what if you add some water current to the first canal-battle, so when you kill dudes their weapons/ammo will float towards the player? Then the player won't have to run out and get shot to restock on supplies.

    nice arena there with the hunters. looks pretty solid overall, just be careful with combat fatigue...

    Nice looping design there. Could probably use a few slightly longer breaks in the fighting as you climb up the structure.

    Like Serenius said, nice loop through the space, but I think the early bit is a little too narrow. There's no opportunities for either the player or the NPCs to flank, so the only option for combat is pretty much what you did in the video, standing in place and picking off the Combine as they charge you. Maybe add some passageways that cut into the side of the canal? Or walls parallel to the canal, somewhere where the enemy can move to get closer to the player with cover. If that makes any sense.

    Another option would be to simply make the area wider, with various levels of cover, similar to your hunter arena towards the end.
