Awesome! de_karachi was the shit! Is it included in the game or is this a "custom" map?
Shipped in MW2.
I had to modify it a bit to play respawning modes like TDM better but it is pretty much the same.
haha cool I remember making podbot waypoints for karachi lol ![]()
I think it's finally time to post some of the Source mod i've been working on over the past 4 months, still early days yet, but im almost through the first level (minus polish) so the time seems right to show some WIP shots:

amazing! that is some solid displacement work ![]()
That's ..... Source? If so, I need to change my pants.
I hate how Briscoe comes in here and posts "Still in early days, first level is done minus polish" and you're miles ahead of everyone else's work.
Looks good, though the picture with the railing it looks odd how the moss is cut off on the top face.
I've been following your blog and seen this before and I gotta say it's incredible. Would be nice to see some texture maps and whatnot made for this! Good job.
damn thats some nice terrain ![]()
You're blowing my mind, man, you're blowing my mind! ![]()
My first reaction was "Ohh finally somebody's doing something new with the Cryengine..." - looks outstanding Briscoe!
Yeah, I've been following this on your blog too. Simply stunning stuff, especially for source.
Oh... my... fucking god!
Simply great work Robert. Inspirational.
this shot makes my balls shrink

How did you made the waves? Is it animated?
You know, I thought that looked a little familiar, then I saw the "Dear Esther" on the wallpaper versions ![]()
Fucking phenomenal, btw. Rockwork is stellar - are those all hand-built displacements, or did you go with meshes?
Edit: Now that I actually check your blog, I see that it is in fact displacements. Awesome work, though you may be a little insane as well ![]()
Looks amazing indeed. It's a shame Source cant handle specular maps well (at least not in the ep1 engine which seems to be the one you are using). The lack of specular kind of make your textures look old school and flat.

He explained on his blog:
Quote from RobertAnother thing I worked on, and something that had been bugging me since the project started, was the problem of creating a realistic ocean with Valves pond water. After unsuccessfully trying various complex solutions I finally decided to go back to basics and tried a simple scrolling TwoTexture, with some carefully crafted textures, applied on a brush 1 unit above the water. Initial results were very promising but one of the major problems I had over such a large area was inevitable tilling. I countered this by converting the brush into a displacement where I could skew and shape the texture to avoid any ugly tilling and better match the contours of the shoreline.
I'm also following Robert's devlog and I love those Before and After caps: http://www.littlelostpoly.co.uk/devblog/?p=420
Such a great work mate!
