Apart the OST, the James Cameron's vision of earth is very close to Blade runner!

    Oh wow... what a film!

The attention to detail is staggering, the alien creatures, the jungle itself and the wildlife, even the military units and ships, however much they looked like something we've seen before were incredidably well done and the facial expressions on the Navi looked like they could be real people, especially on Sigourney's character, it was quite eerie. All those saying that this isn't anything new are sooooo wrong, the benchmark for the ultimate cinematic experience has been raised, Cameron is the fucking man

So glad it ended the way it did, I was actually really angry when the humans destroyed the tree and hoped that the Navi would get their revenge, I thought it might be a lame ending like the two leads dying with the rest of the clans, unable to stop the unstoppable force but I'm glad the bad guys got their come uppance, we all cheered when the captain got the arrows fired at him

I'm definately going to see it again if I can!

I did watched it a second time today! I can go back to Germany happy now!

I just hope you guys watched it in 3D, It's fucking awesome. Up until now I hated 3D, because It's all fake, basically it blurs the pic, giving the feeling of depth, in exchange for image quality, sharpness, etc, but not Avatar! It's the first decent 3D movie I've ever watched, although I admit I didn't watched many. it proves 3D is pretty cool if well executed. (I hate the fact that people call it 3D btw, it is in fact 2.5D )

Well I found the movie was very average to say the least...

Technically astounding, but it's only a series of postcards and technological prowess that doesn't help serve a sub standard Pocahontas plot that you can see coming a mile away. Extremely Manichean concepts and characters that are barely developed or explained. James Cameron is talented enough that the movie never falls into Bruckheimer/Michael Bay bullshit territory, but as a movie it fails to capture my imagination beyond a few very cool character concepts, all related to the fauna and flora of Pandora (connecting with fiber optics via the hair of all living species is very cool for instance)

Agreed, I found the movie technically amazing but the story and characters smelled old. I mean, the GI-Joe bad guy is one of the most undevelopped villain ever, he simply hates everything in the world except order and violence and could be the son of hitler for all we know. Also, most of the story "twists" were predictable 30min before they happened and you never really fear anything will happen to the main character because it just feels like that type of movie where everything ends well for the good guys.

I think it's a good film, but besides its visuals and the world they created for it (I loved the colors, animals and vegetation), it still feels like another hundred high profile holywood movies, just a damn pretty one.
