Dual wielding this and D3 at the moment, played it for about 2 hours yesterday.

It's pretty good, but to be honest then I'm slightly underwhelmed by the feel and look of the game. Was really hoping that with all the Euphoria stuff at play that it would feel a lot more "physical" than your average 3rd person shooter, with him actually pointing the gun around when you aim, the feel of weight when you move around and such. And while it does do that to a certain extent, in actual firefights you're trying to win it rarely looks as good as you'd hope and never feel like the firefights reaches their full potential. You can't take a lot of damage, and with painkillers in scarce supply then you're almost encouraged to play it safe in most situations, making it look like any other cover based shooter.

Also they have this weird over saturated flicker in their cut scenes that looks awful, no idea what they hell they were thinking with that.

It's still good fun, but I just wish they'd encourage you to play a bit more with the game, rather than make it so unforgiving out of cover that you don't dare trying anything cool.

I'd rather play D3 than this, but I figure it's gonna be a quicker game to finish so I donno :G

Finished it yesterday and whilst i did really enjoy it, there were a few things that stood out for me. Firstly, reviews criticized it for being too long which is ridiculous as it's about a 9 hour game without rushing, I could've played more. Anyway

    - When you pick up a sniper rifle or anything scoped, the analogue sticks get swapped around. This is crazy and quite disorientating, no idea why they did this, I tended to avoid anything scoped after I learnt this

    - Is a bit annoying how Max puts his main weapon away in every cutscene so afterwards you are left just with a pistol and have to swap back

    - You can't move between points of cover without Max standing up and getting shot at

    - Sadly enough I like getting achievements in my 360 games, however Max Payne annoyed me as to get all of them you effectively have to play the entire game through 4 times over to unlock and complete various difficulty modes and the new york minute mode and do it all in hardcore. This is stupid and there's no way I'm going to do it regardless of how much I enjoyed my first play through, I hate it when developers use achievements to force players to over-play every part of their game instead of offering some amusing side challenges that can be achieved on one play through (two max).

Overall though as i said, very much enjoyed it, haven't tried MP yet either

Finished it yesterday as well. It does have a few rough spots in the campaign, but as a whole I really enjoyed it too, though I was a bit frustrated and confused by the last fight.

First I tried just killing everybody, but apparently didn't manage to shoot everyone in time and got a Failed screen, so I figured that I was doing it wrong and that I had to flank the guy with the riot shield. Then I tried flanking around left, and got a grenade in my face every single time, so I started thinking there was some underlying puzzle that I didn't see, but after about 10 tries I finally shot enough and got through. Too clever for my own good I guess

And yeah, don't get what people are on about with the length of the game. I think the length was pretty spot on, ended just before it really started becoming too much of a grind.

I still think they failed in capturing what really made the old games exciting and unique by emphasizing covers rather than diving around gunning. It does work really well as a cover based shooter, but I'd preferred regenerating health as opposed to the painkillers and then be able to take some more fun risks.

Haven't tried out the multiplayer, but sadly I doubt I'll get around it with Diablo 3 breathing down my neck.

I know, blasphemy, but I genuinely think it would've made for a better playing experience, that or an increase in the amount of painkillers around. I might be on crack, but I'd prefer that as opposed to being force into playing it as cover based shooter 90% of the time and using bullet time only to get out and snipe enemies, and only diving around when having a couple of painkillers to spare.

Tried the MP, it's ok but nothing too special even though some reviews highlighted it as the standout feature. I find third person online shooters a bit awkward in general anyway, the fact that you have to press left or right on the d-pad before approaching a corner to shift your view to one side of your character is off-putting. The whole so-mo thing works ok online (supposed to make you go slow mo when anyone is aiming at you with it activated) but occasionally you'll go into slow mo whilst behind a wall as someone on the other side of the level has triggered it and happens to be facing in your direction. Spawning next to enemies is also commonplace and the game doesn't do a great job of explaining what perks/bonuses you have and what they do. Also they hide away their more novel game modes and keep them locked until you have at least 100 kills, meaning until then you have to play regular old TDM and DM, bit strange that.

So yeah, get it for the SP mainly is my advice

The buzz surrounding this game went quiet pretty fast. In hindsight, do you guys think it is worth checking out or should I wait for a price drop?

i think the problem is diablo 3 overshadowed it, which could cause any decent title to get sidelined due to the fanatical fanboyism that people display towards blizzard

Game is so good. I could kill people forever in this game. I die a lot but it gives me more opportunities to kill people so its ok.
