Finished it last night on Veteran. Clocked in around 6 1/2 hours for the campaign. I didn't really speed through it but I didn't take my time either. The encounters towards the end definitely picked up but overall it felt like everything was too exploitable. Stealth can be easily used to take down a good portion of a fight or just simply slip passed and skip it altogether, which I tried not to do too much, but did when it felt appropriate (I pretty much bypassed the whole section on

). I'm still not sure if this is a good thing all the time, given how easy it is to do. Fighting the big alien dudes who flip cars made for some cool situations but grenade spamming him ends up being the best solution, ultimately.

Sniping seemed pretty overpowered as well, as you usually have a pretty good overview of an area when you come out to it vs Crysis 1, where trying to snipe an entire camp of guys wasn't always viable, as you were rarely given a complete, uninterrupted view of a whole encounter. Everything was generally more parallaxed, so if you wanted to snipe, you'd have to work at finding that high ground.

I've probably put more time into MP at this point which is pretty fun, spawning aside.

I won the Nano edition from work on Friday http://www.webhallen.com/spel/pc/112104 ... no_edition

Going to give it a try on my lunch break, my computer at home most likely wouldn't handle it Will I miss out horribly on the story if I haven't played the first one? I bought Crysis 1 and Warhead like a year ago on a Steam sale but I haven't gotten around to playing them yet...

Nah, the story will work fine without the first two games.

Any recommendation about what difficulty to use as someone who was pretty good at Crysis 1? If it is relatively short and kind of easy to exploit at times I'd like to make sure I have a good challenge, although not one that's fun-ruiningly hard.

I'm having fun with Soldier (2/4) difficulty setting on the XBox360. Almost finishing it, feels good to play it on your living room with proper sound set-up, sound makes all the difference!

The hardest difficulty was too frustrating for me on my first run through. I went with the second easiest (same as HP I think?) and that was a lot better but perhaps a bit too easy looking back. The one right below the hardest is probably a good challenge with some frustration here and there. Think I'll play a second run on it right now actually.

For those who've played Warhead, would it be worth the $15 I can get it for? I feel like playing Crysis again but I've played it to death.

Hehe, it is a pretty weird feeling to finally play something at home that you've worked on for years at work.

Tried playing some of the first chapters with human AI on a harder difficulty. It's better, but I still can't shake the feeling that the actual levels are awesome but the fights leave something to be desired. Haven't played the multiplayer in the full game yet, but I bet these work great as MP maps.

Warhead is good, I enjoyed it a lot. Gives you the opportunity to further experience Crysis 1's wonderful tropical backdrop without doing stuff you've done before.

Playing the game on Soldier difficulty. Loving it so far,but I get a bit pissed off sometimes at how easily spot by enemies you can be.

i completed it on the hardest difficulty, taking it easy, watching every cutscene and doing as much as i could, took me about 12 hours, i had none of the frustration you guys are having. i breezed through it in fact.

So, just finished it. Some spoilers.

    Lets go!

    Pros:

    Great music.

    Nice sounds.

Felt like a badass with the .50cal. Budda budda budda!

Jumping around like an idiot is fun.

Ran silky smooth on 1680x1050 16xaf, 4xaa Super duper extreme.

Some really excellent art on show here, respek.

The controls for the suit are a lot better than Crysis 1.

Had some real fun chucking idiots through windows and off of rooftops! But why does it take so long to throw them after grabbing them by the neck? I would get my ass shot to shit whilst my hand decided what to do.

    Cons:

First half of the game sent me to sleep.

The beginning was too fast for me. One second I was in a submarine, the next I'm drowning then I'm in a suit.

Cliché characters. We got the nerd, the butch girl, the hardass colonel and the old guy from Fallout 3 New Vegas.

Felt like my hand was being held too much at times with the visor and the beginning game instructions. "Move your mouse to look around!" if Hard is chosen I think the help text should go away.

Pretty easy in most aspects, I just felt invincible for majority of the time. I'd just stand there, turn armour on and let everyone shoot at me with no fear of dying whilst spraying at them with my .50cal of doom.

The fov was just silly. Had to bring down the console and adjust it.

The gun in my view was huge so had to change that as well. But it kept resetting itself.

    Bluescreened me twice.

Some of the triggers didn't seem to trigger properly. Either that or everyone is supposed to stand there doing nothing with invisible guns in their hands.

Too much taking control away from the player for my liking.

Can't shoot infected civilians. Why not? Seems like I'd be doing them a big favour.

Didn't really care for the soldiers I thought with. I ended up leaving them behind as they were so slow anyway.

All in all a good experience that was worth my monies, though very flawed in my opinion.

what a well thought out article, and judging by the comments section i'd say these fellas sure are the kinds of people who know what's important in a game.

thanks for posting jean paul, i'll be sure to mail this around the office so we can respond to these allegations.
