i think there are a lot of people out there afraid of being perceived as the least bit homosexual. social taboos have come a long way...

Borrowed a friend's PS3 to get used to how it functions as I'm considering buying one, so I've played through Heavy Rain in one combination. There are so many different choices that effect what happens next it's insane... must have been a nightmare to script!

    During that playthrough,

    Quote

Madison and Jayden died, the former killed after I drunk the wine at the doctor's house (I'm such an idiot) and Jayden got owned by big Frank because I didn't hit the button combos in time

. During the ending I saw

    Quote

Shelby smashing manfred over the head with the typewriter.. are we to assume that Shelby is the real killer in this case? or is it Ethan, since he "never learned origami in his life" but yet there are several folded models in his cell before he hangs himself

Button prompts are a bit unfair, it's often impossible for me to hit the right buttons during fight sequences and thus the character ends up being beaten black and blue...

    Is it possible to complete

    Quote

the second test at the power station?

Ethan got hurt so many times because I couldn't hit all the buttons at the same time (do you need two people for that or something?) that he gave up and ran off.

Game should be an 18 really, cranking up the blood count is needed when

    Quote

Ethan cuts his finger off, there's next to no blood apart from a bit of splatter on his model and despite Jayden having his skull smashed in with an iron pole, there's so blood left at all! Yeah yeah I know, it's not important.. but it distracts from the gritty realism

    The section with

    Quote

    Shepard and his brother

    was really well done.

    Oh yeah and

    Quote

When Blake puts on Jayden's glasses, he sees him in the virtual world..

    what's up with that?!

I finally got around to beating the game this weekend. My thoughts:

    1) It's definitely different from games as a mainly QTE affair, but I really enjoyed it. It's not Call of Halo IV or whatever but that's a good thing. I'm glad it is different.

    2) WTG SCEE. Seriously, top notch writing/acting for a video game. It was honestly touching and shocking in certain moments, simply because you are DOING the stuff, not just watching like in a film.

    3) But as with a good film, this game allowed you to identify with the different characters you played as. The way it was done worked for me.

    4) There were still a lot of annoying moments, but overall they did not detract much.

So if you own a PS3 and have not tried it, at least rent or borrow it. I rented it and decided to buy it in the end because I thought Sony deserved the sale after taking a chance on a game like this.

[OT]Now I just can't wait to try Red Dead Redemption.[/OT]

Tried the demo and I found the movement extremely annoying. I just couldn't control my character at all... Guess this wasn't something for me

    Looked pretty nice tho.

That's not really the point. The point is that the audience is prepared for something different, if it's done right.

    But...it's not.

Can anyone spot the guy who hasn't actually played the game? Any takers?

Try the Yakuza 3 demo then. That's the worst character-camera-control scheme I have ever seen.

Saw a friend playing this the other day and found it a bit silly to be blunt, but I didn't see much to form an opinion anyway.

Yep, Character / Camera Controls are horrible on Heavy Rain, apart from that It's a nice game. The French are learning a few things.

That aspect pissed me off on several occasions, but still I liked the game enough to finish it. Guess I just got used to it and paid more attention to the moments I liked and then the story itself...which for a video game was interesting enough.

Also, I thought the music was good and that slightly helped hold my interest despite wanting to throw the controller sometimes.

I just played the demo today (lol behind the times). I really liked how the fight scene with the hooker's abusive client worked, though exploring the trainyard was kinda annoying after that. Trying and failing a dozen times to climb up the muddy bank and getting my dude super muddy was very entertaining though. Square plus Triangle Plus R1 plus L2 plus X... FUCK *back to bottom*
