    Some new footage

I'm very intrigued by the core concept of being able to go on with the game even if one of your characters dies, but I can't help but notice that at no point does he say that these characters stories are linked together, so it might be as simple as saying "Hey, no more on this guys story then!". Anyway, if nothing else it looks different, although maybe a bit too reliant on QTE's for my taste

Just hope the plot won't go fucking braindead like Fahrenheits. Damn cyber bugs and save the world plot :G

People keep on saying "wtf, this is not a game... It's a interactive movie", lulz...

I'm very looking forward to this, adventure games are awesome!

I think they gonna have a hard time to justify the hype. Game looked great before this. It was their whole selling point. But now they have clearly stepped a gear down. Not really surprising. The PS3 just isn't powerfull enough to render a game in photorealistic manner.

Yeah the original "rape attempt" (that's how I remember it) seemed to promise a lot more than this, and once again this is just going to be the same random bullcrap QTE sequence over and over again. We get it David Cage, you want to make movies. Fine, go make them.

I was certainly hoping the game would embrace a brand new way to look at controls, something entirely contextual maybe, modifying them on the fly depending on what you want to do and where interactive elements are located around the player. I really want to see this tried, so that we can finally feel the gamepad is the extension of the character's hands. It seems this will only come through cameras and mimicking in front of your TV.

What's wrong with trying to make a movie out of a game? I like the idea of playing something rather than sitting back on the couch watching the directors make all the moves for me. With a game like this, it's easy to forget that you have no investment in the characters being shown in the trailers. Once you do, wouldn't you enjoy controlling their stories?

If this were to be like the ultimate QTE-type game then I think I could actually enjoy it, where you can choose to handle each situation in totally different ways and genuinely change the outcome. For example, I'd be quite impressed if during that encounter with the beastly black guy you could just crack some jokes to end the problem in a friendly way, and he becomes an ally or something in the story. You know, truly script-changing stuff.

Sadly I suspect that despite their promises of dozens and dozens of scenes, no game over screens, a flexible story, etc, it'll actually end up more like Fahrenheit where it's basically a series of long cutscenes and you pretty much just keep the cutscene going by hitting the right buttons.

I guess when you really think about it, what they're doing here isn't that different to old-school adventure games. In classics like Monkey Island and Grim Fandango you pretty much just carried out a series of pre-defined actions in exactly the way the developer intended, but were given some choice over which dialogue to use, when to do certain things, etc. And when some serious storytelling was needed, you watched a completely non-interactive cutscene.

It was more the story, atmosphere, and characterisation that made those games so great, and that kind of distracted you from the fact you had pretty much no say in how to play the game. If Heavy Rain can nail the same things I think it could be very entertaining — or it could be like Fahrenheit and go completely off the deep end story-wise.

If the game looks this good and the storyline is as engaging throughout the entire game I don't mind that "dressing slutty" and "dancing sexy" is part of the gameplay. In fact in my book that's a good thing

I haven't looked at the trailer [HP] just posted but last time the rain effects appeared to be lacking.

More of an aesthetically critique but you'd think a game named Heavy Rain would have some nice looking rain.

However gameplay looked interesting last time I saw a gameplay video.

only bumping this because the demo is out on PSN now. I played it tonight and sure does have that the QTE gameplay as seen/expected. I'm not totally sold on how it would hold up over a full game, but I enjoyed the demo. Even the QTE fight sequence wasn't really that bad. The writing and acting is pretty good, though we the lip sync could use work (oh...nm...it's a video game so I should be forgiving).

Anyway, the demo has me wanting to see more of it. Anyone else play it?

Yeah played the demo yesterday. I thought the voice acting was pretty horrendous to be honest. Considering that this, at least in my opinion, one of the few things they really have to nail to make it work, then it just constantly took attention away from the otherwise fantastic presentation. Sounded like most of the lines were rushed and said so unconvincingly that it really detracted from the overall experience. It does seem like they dropped the ball on voice acting portion of the production. Especially when you consider how great voice acting in games have become, even in games where it's completely insignificant, and then you have something like this where its of the utmost importance where it takes you out of the experience.

The fight in the apartment was really cool, even though I went back and tried it again and even though I did it completely flawless the second time then it more or less acted out exactly the same as before. The climbing up on the muddy hill gameplay was amazing too, I can't believe that how well it worked having you press and hold every single button one after one, was pretty freaking cool

Anyway, still quite interested in this one, if nothing else then it definitely has a certain unique vibe to it.

On the acting front I was paying more attention to the way characters moved, which is part of the overall appeal of the presentation. The voice acting itself, sadly, isn't as good and Mazy is dead on with his analysis above. Still, I actually like the story. At least it is something different, even if we've seen QTE before. This will be the first game that is essentially all QTE? Kinda takes some balls of Sony to try something like this...

    Played the demo.

Why were some of the dialogue sound very silent? Sometimes I could hear them correctly and sometimes I couldn't hear shit.
