And finally, the GT review.
Aliens vs Predator

What DRM does this use?

Not fucking Steam again? I'm so tired of having to find cracks just to play the bastard SP campaign offline..

-
What is wrong with you? steam is fine. It's not great but better than most.

Offline? lol
Anyway, this game delivers. The radar still scares the shit out of me, and i'm a grown up now. Well at least I used to think my father was a grown up when he was my age.

D3 still refuses to have his gaming PC on the internet

I agree hkon, i'm going through the marine campaign at the moment and find it pretty scary. I love the Alien franchise and while there have been a couple of bad films, this game so far has stuck to the original films roots.
The AI is pretty random...it's almost like they switch off when an encounter nears the end so you're left on your own.

oh lawd

At least its not mega retarded like Silent Hunter 5 and some new Ubi games that require you to be connected to the internet to play SP, if your connection drops you get booted out the game, without saving.
-
-
I know! You don't call.. you don't write... you're never on here anymore! etc..
Actually my dad's getting a new quad core machine delivered this week so I could "borrow" it to play new games, he's got a Radeon 5750 or something like that, all the paperwork for the card has AVP advertised everywhere so I guess it's ok

I'll be getting a new one myself sometime, but not yet...
Point taken Gingerlord, plus GFWL which is utter fail. At least EA have dropped the Securom where you only get 5 installs. Anyone know if you can get Dead Space on PC without that enabled anymore btw?

Bingo! It's a personal preference, one that i should be allowed to keep with, Steamworks pisses me off for this reason.
Couldn't you just plug in your PC to validate the initial install, then play offline? I know I never had issues playing HL2 on my laptop without an internet connection after the initial validation.
-
I did that when I actually used it when it first came out, I had problems with offline mode not working and constantly had to plug in a temp connection just to log in everytime so I could finish HL2! Once I'd finished it, Steam was uninstalled like a flash, as it had also screwed up my Half-Life and single-player custom games no longer worked in WON

Anyway, less OT... more AVP
I watched a video of the first mission, looks like pretty cool stuff, like the way they've got a female marine who hasn't been killed off in no time

-
That female marine giving you orders / instructions has such a bad voice acting!
Quote"Rookie you there?!" (...) "Tequila out"
Like sharp sticks to my ears
Fuck it though, so far I'm having a blast with this! And I didn't even tried neither the Alien nor Predator!
QuoteAnd omg, having droids has enemies is fucking awesome! Such a nice and simple idea, not sure why it never crossed me before. What it ruins it though, is not being able to crouch, therefor you die a lot when fighting those fuckers because you can't take cover.
What the fuck were rebellion thinking when they removed crouch from the game?
-
No crouch?!
I bet there's no lean either?! Well at least it doesn't have health-regen I suppose
-
Nope, no crouch and no lean, but I never used lean in a FPS before anyways. But not having crouch is seriously retarded...
Actually there a mix of both, health regen and health packs.
You have a health bar with 3 small bars on it, if you get hit and the damage takes say 1 bar and half, it will regenerate the second small bar only, if that makes any sense. Health packs will regenerate all your health and you can only carry 3 with you. (At least on hard, the difficulty level I'm playing on)

I finished all campaigns on hard. And yup, towards the end was the worst as marine. I dislike that they did not add crouch, but I can see why they didn't. If they had, it would have been to easy against their retarded humanoid AI. Overall I enjoyed the single-player campaigns. Predator was still my favorite.
-
That's like the health system in F.E.A.R. 2, it's pretty well balanced imho.
How long has the Marine campaign lasted so far? Reviews say it's about 10 hours in total with all species.
