GeorgeB must've cried IRL when Crysis came out in 2007.

He was a bit of an idiot really. Regardless of what he had done in the past (which was, by all accounts, simply getting other people to implement his latest whim) he fucked up massively with DNF. At so many points they had something great looking and he fucked it up by demanding more. From what I read from a former employee, the great E3 demo was literally just a series of heavily scripted moments, and they had built everything to be tailored towards those scenes, rather than building an actual game.
Still, the idea behind the DN games is nice, but he is dead. He and his balls of steel have gone to a better place.
-
So basically George B is big fatty and stoopid who can't make a good game anymore?
P.S $20 Million!!
-
He's pretty fat FWIW
-
To be honest the only thing I feel after reading that is pity. I can't be mad at a man who's basically wasted half his adult life on something and still has nothing to show for it at the end due to obsessive control issues (probably literally has some kind of disorder).

yeah it's called rich-itis. symptoms include: inflammation of the wallet

I never met the guy, but generally people don't make business decisions like that unless they are driven by ego more than anything else. On the one hand it's very sad. On the other hand, he had it coming based on his actions described in the article. Everything in moderation, especially ego.
-
I found it most sad for one of the developers who - as a professional - only ever worked on DNF for several years. Poor guy.

I feel sorry for all the 3DR employees, they were paid significantly less than average, with the promise of profit sharing on a released DNF. If I was one of those guys laid off recently thanks to the guys running the show fucking up, I'd want to kill somebody. I don't know how a single person on that team didn't quit at any of the points Brussard made them scrap a build and start over from nothing because somebody else released a new game.
-
Anyone that wasn't getting a good deal to start off with and remained at 3DR for this long only has himself to blame.
-
The story of this company is worth making a hollywood movie about. A sad one. A movie about obsession, dissociation, loss of reality.
-
Omg because of this topic I dreamt about Duke Nukem Forever last night. It was awsome... best game ever, so much diversity, so much powah... And weird purple colors !?

But oh well... Never gonna happen now
