Daaamn, I'm fucking hyped for this shit!
oh man so excited and i just cant hide it!!!!
hell yeah <.
Yeah you can fly using the glider. I happen to be designing both the glider (game design) and the part of the game you can use it in (mission design)
Glider part better not be repetitive and it should have fair checkpoints.
Well, if it's bad, we know who to blame ![]()
Yeah, it better not be a gimmick! ![]()
I am claiming this my most anticipated game for 2009 :} Masseffect for close second :]! and then call of juarez for third ;D!
Too bad Mass Effect is not shipping in 2009 though ![]()
I'll give you more details on the Glider when I can, but let's just say that the entire team is focused on improving the game exponentially compared to the first one, and the glider is but a small part in the grand picture ![]()
Jade Raymond still in the picture?
She's executive producer, Sebastien Puel is the producer now. That makes Jade his boss.
BTW why did the first game use shadowmaps and not like Mirror's Edge and Valve games precalculated lighting. I mean it had no need for dynamic lights and pixelated shadows looked pretty horrid.
Also I assume the second game will be the same.
Furyo, while you're addressing cons, how about the total lack of subtitles combined with typical horrid audio mixes in first-party Ubisoft titles?
I have imperfect hearing thanks to a history of surgery on my left ear (the entire inner workings are artificial, bionic ear!)... the hearing level itself is mostly back to normal, but I still have difficulty isolating sounds. I have to play most games at night after my son is in bed and in the presence of a cable box whose fan spins louder than the 360 DVD drive - Without significantly adjusting VO balance, I need subtitles, since I can't turn it up without waking up the boy.
Ubi constantly fails to deliver them, or even adequate sound balance options that'll let me max out VO and pull back sound fx and music, which gives me room to turn up the TV enough to hear and understand the VO.
I have no idea what happened in Rainbow Six: Vegas because I couldn't hear any of it. GRAW? Little easier to follow, but otherwise still difficult. For Assassin's Creed I had to get up off the couch and press my ear up to the TV to hope to hear a word of dialogue in the cinematics, and even that was sketchy. This isn't some stupid fall-asleep-to-the-TV late night volume setting either, this is at somewhat normal TV watching volume.
Like I said, generally speaking my hearing is close to normal. I can only imagine how infuriating those with more severe hearing disabilities feel trying to play these games.
I'm only addressing this to you because you work there, btw; I'm looking forward to the game and all but if the sound options are as poor as the first game it'll notably reduce my enjoyment of the game if not my will to purchase it.
Yell at people until there are subtitles!
I do not have that problem kungfu. But your rant made me believe in your cause. Subtitles should be a must if you are reaching a mass audience. Its much like the widescreen hackjobs like on farcry 2 :[
Ubisoft last year announced that all its games from then on would now feature subtitles, particularly in an effort to help hearing impaired customers enjoy their games.

As you can see this article says 2008 games, whereas I always took it to mean ALL games. I haven't heard or spoken to anyone regarding this and AC2 yet, and since he's mentioned in this thread, James Wearing would be the person to talk to I suppose. I'll make sure to let him know tomorrow when I get to work.
As an example, Prince of Persia had subtitles.
Quote from GloglebagBTW why did the first game use shadowmaps and not like Mirror's Edge and Valve games precalculated lighting. I mean it had no need for dynamic lights and pixelated shadows looked pretty horrid. Also I assume the second game will be the same.
Same technology, far from the same results for the second game. Game already looks prettier than the first one ever could.
So I heard back from the sound guys. Yes the game will have subtitles and yes the game will have more sound options than the first one.
Awesome news. Thanks for looking into that, and sorry for briefly derailing the thread ![]()
I'm actually surprised I either didn't see that headline when it was announced or saw it and forgot about it. I'm glad they recognized it. There's always a handful of games that don't bother (Perfect Dark Zero had even worse sound balance + no subtitles), but Ubi seemed to be the only major publisher that consistently didn't implement them.
I still need to go back and finish the first game... my wife and son are heading out of town for a week or so to visit her family later this month; maybe I can crank up the volume a bit then ![]()
