I understand they're going after the 1 million unique daily Halo 3 players with their MP again, but that's lost on me as I don't ever want to pay for Xbox Live, nor do I plan to play with a random internet crowd anytime soon.

I play it on the PC, no Xbox Live costs. Playing it in a clan has been the best MP experience for me since Counter-Strike.

Which really makes me think again about this point in the latest Bonus Round. Will we ever see games with different components sold separately? There are extra costs associated with this, at least as long as brick and mortar dominates the industry, but I would buy so many more games if I could just get their SP part as a stand alone...

Could you link me to that discussion mon ami? Interested to hear more about this

They briefly touch on the subject.

Yes I could play it on the PC, in a clan. My former DoD clan moved on to MW when it was released. Back then my ties with the DoDS community, not to mention Valve, made me stay there. Plus I was concerned that I would get in a very different ball game. Activision releases a new CoD every year, whereas I had been playing DoD for the past 5. If I have to buy the new game each year to be part of an online group, that's where I draw the line.

Besides, every game I've played MP on was a Valve game. I just have all the fun I need with them and the friends I made in the community.

Ah, man, DODS. Never has an online FPS made me feel so good at it. I got it at the same time as a ton of other noobs, it was a $5 weekend deal, and I absolutely wrecked most servers I played on. I had so much fun playing sniper and running from cover to cover, finding neat hiding places and mowing down the other team from it then progressing quickly. One of the awesome things DODS had that I've never seen in any other online game is the tons and tons of side areas and hiding spots and hidden paths, so many that even if a player were to memorize the entire map, there's too many to easily casually check for people hiding in them like you get in most online games. How often do you get a sense of exploration from an online shooter?

Looks good, but it's unfair towards the PC crowd isn't it? I mean on the PC that 16 player map is going to be played by 40 people, on "hardcore", and it's gonna be TDM. Well at least in 90% of the cases.

How is that unfair? We never said it would be fun with 40 people.

Well it shows a situation which will frankly never occur on the PC, now will it. Should be a warning the vid is only for 360 and ps3.

Hehe, looks like you didn't last long there Composite . Royce (Figured its Alex Roycevich or whatever his name is, used to post on these boards I think) was on fire tho

Cool looking map, I can definitely see why you'd pick the Rio setting, since its kinda similar looking location geometry wise to the COD4 middle-eastern stuff, only with a fancy palette switch. If it aint broken dont fix it

I don't get the end of the video btw, with the disconnect and host migration. When I saw that I figured the sniper would pop off in the last second before he got hit. Guess its to show that the game has throwing knives and host migration now, eh

Yeah, it was to show of migration. On consoles a lot of games would end when the host takes off.

Lol, I could get into a huge PC debate but thought my way through the conversation and lost the will to get into it. From piracy to modded servers....too long of a convo and I have lunch calling me.

Alex R is still a beast on MP. We are the two main MP designers.

To be honest then I think its a miracle that anyone doing games where the majority of their sales come from consoles can be bothered with porting them to PC anymore. Although probably hard to really prove anything, then I think the general trend is that a lot of hardcore gamers with a decent rig will always pirate the games they can on PC and only buy the console exclusives because they're forced to it.

Then again, there's still a market there, especially for something such as MW2, question being if you'd get more legit people than you'd lose by doing a PC version

What? Is that gamemode for consoles only? Or is it the fact that everyone wants to play 40 player servers instead of the number originally intended?

I guess I'll buy it for pc, and there is 1 reason for that, my friends. Oh 1 more, I suck hard when it comes to console FPS games.

I'll get it for the PC when I can play it with a mouse and keyboard behind my head

That's the best thing about consoles, being able to play games in awkward positions

Yep I'll get it for PC. Console can suck my ball sack. And why would you want to play it in awkward positions? Are you doing yoga while you play

Lol, he had the shield! We were out numbered...hmmmm....gotta think up some more reasons.

It's funny, we started out as a PC company but we have worked very hard on getting the controls on the consoles to the point where you are able to aim and move well. After getting used to the consoles more and more, going home and firing up the PC to play and dealing with patches (tried to play some BF2 a bit ago), under powered rigs, sitting at a desk for even more hours...etc. I think many of us find it more fun to sit on a comfy couch and enjoy a game or two on a console. For me it feels more like entertainment because it isn't on a computer that I use everyday. Steam does make the whole process much easier as far as updates, friends, not too taxing on the hardware games..etc. but I find myself playing more console game then PC these days.

Anyways, just my 2 cents worth.

Generalvivi - Alex and I do almost all the mp levels. I have done SP levels on COD2 and Cod4. Alex gets pulled over and does SP geo once in a while. He's very fast (ahh youth).
