humm you should get rid of all lighting when making textures. You can try this technique, it works sometimes:

Wow that is an awesome article. I've used high pass before, but I always end up having to try and restore the colour in a long-winded fashion (to the point of it putting me off using highpass in the first place). That way is a lot faster & easier. Is this edit->fade command some kind of secret society thing 'cause I've never seen it mentioned before in articles or tutorials

    Cheers!

The bricks look great, but what is that stuff that is over it? cement?

i agree those bricks would look amazing alone, i think hes tryin' to attempt a sorta chipped plaster look ontop of them though. release varied version:

    plain

    semi chipped

    barely chipped

    fully plastered

    Well thanks,

it is cement on the bricks

Yeah maybe i have to use an other matrial

but was for me an exercice for some new tricks to texture

If you do an overlay of plaster/cement or any material, you need to make it well tiled so it's not as noticable on a wall:

As opposed to a more chipped plaster that turns to be more flowing when tile (This sucks dick cause I spent like 2 minutes on it and I didn't have your original bricks to make it more well-blended but the idea is there!)

    Thank you sire

    I have made this now

And alsow, maybe i can make the wall thin in to a decal. Would that not be better ? Of the first texture

    maybe, you should try it.

Anyways, the texture looks a little better now, but the fading at the bottom still gives it away some.. If you could transfer some of that roughness from the "hole" you made in the first texture down there it would look better.

Keep it up, its one cool texture you're working on there~~

i'm still confused on what the top layer is. Cement? Plaster?

It seems too well faded for concrete or plaster, each of those are rough-cut edges. Only things that really fade over bricks like that is dust, dirt, or sand.

Bricks just dont fit at bottom, I sujest you make one concrete wall and one brick wall. Looks bad when they are blended together, looks fake.

Thats my 2 cents. Make them seperate they I think they are very nice.

Yeah i think i combine bad matrials together. Didn't thought about that.

Its cement so i thought it could be used as a wall.

    Thx for the comments
