Yeah looks beautiful, cliffs and rocky walls are where mega textures really shine.

Just finished it, 21 one hours, didn't do ALL the sidequests, but I did the majority of them.
It's a fantastic game, couple flaws but they get shadowed by all the goodness. I must find the time to type more indepth opinion about it, I also wanted to do the same for DX:HR but never got around to do it.
Two months in a row with two fantastic games, and next month we have Skyrim and Uncharted 3!! :santahurg: :santahurg: :santahurg: :santahurg: :santahurg: :santahurg: :santahurg: :santahurg:

Means we get one more mediocre Elder Scrolls game with broken animations and one really great game with great animations... Mh...
Anyway, anyone knows the best/cheapest place to pick up Rage now? All this fan praise here makes me want to buy it...
Hah just finished it, probably the weirdest and weakest ending that I've seen in a game in ages, so sudden and out of nowhere.
QuoteI sooo figured there would be some kind of über boss since you just got the BFG, but it basically just boiled down to 15 minutes of corridor shooting with it, and thats it. Barely got a chance to use the BFG ammo :G
Still a great game tho~~
i didn't even use the bfg. those throwing blades were all i used for the final level. and about 5 big mama rounds. great art, shit design, too short, lots of fun.
I'm surprised people say it is too short. I was actually getting tired of how long it was.
how can a trophy be an easter egg? [Blocked Image: https://migrationtest.mapcore.org/public/style_emoticons/default/mapcore_smilies/emot_shakehead.gif]
Apparently I lost my save game file. Anyone have one they could give me that is JUST past the TV show arena battle?
I just made it to
QuoteSubway City
, fucking AMAZING!
Good to see the quality of the level design starts to match up with the quality of the level art once you get to Dead City. Been having a blast now that I've gotten to eastern Wastelands.
Looks wonderful however imo the gameplay is dull as fuck. There hasn't been one single moment that made think my way trough something or require any interesting solution. The gunplay just isn't that fun.
AI having cool movement and basically swarming you + really fucking responsive weapons makes the rage experience well worth the time invested.
12 hours in now and I have to say, this is the nicest looking game I have ever played. I'm wowed by every location I go to. The core gameplay is so much fun. Honestly if they took out the repetitive back and forth driving with the same old enemies that respawn and replaced it with driving missions between the core gameplay, this would be up there with half-life for me; if it isn't already. ![]()
Finally got to my house today, wanted to see how long it would take to install on my machine as a buddy of mine bought it yesterday and we waited like an hour and a half before it was time for the third disk. He's on a mac (still not sure what he was on when he made that decision) with an ati card and called me from work to tell me all the problems he's having, such as the texture loading lag etc. Doesn't want to buy another id game again.
Now, onto my experiences with the game. It took about 40 minutes to install, I setup all the configs, drivers, etc to for the highest visuals and booted up the game. I've experienced virtually no texture loading lag, the only reason I ever notice it when it's there is because I was already aware of the issue. It's literrally a fraction of a second if it ever happens and takes nothing away from the game. I'm on a gtx470 with the 8192 textures, 4xantiasliasing, etc with what has to be a constant 60fps. I can't say for sure what my fps is but it's damned smooth and never skips a beat. No tearing or anything, just really awesome performance all around. My card never even goes past 45 degrees.
Regarding the textures them selves, from a distance, especially the canyon rocks and concrete structures, the game looks absolutely stunning. Overall, the guys at id nailed the art be it color, lighting, composition, it's absolutely stellar. Though the color grading is a bit much in some areas for my taste. My only disappointment is how low res everything looks when up close. It's not a huge con for me, I think it helps me focus on the game as well as the art as a whole, instead being amazed at how I can see the wood grain or whatever. Still, prior to release, I wasn't expect such low fidelity on these distances.
Gameplay I can't comment too much on as I've only played for a few hours. I will say that when I exited the game, I was really enjoying the combat and how fluid it felt. Especially with weapons like the Wingstick.
As an added plus, I also received my G930 headset and RAGE sounds flipping awesome. Thanks to Serenius for the tips, btw had very little issues with the drivers and had them up and running in no time.
I've been playing it on PS3, wish I had gotten it on PC. But I'm loving it. Rage is really awesome, lot's of fun. A bit lacking in story in some places (wtf was the intro) but I am enjoying it alot.

I tottally agree with this.
Took about 15 hours to finish. The only thing I didn't do were the races in Subway Town. Just when the game really starts hitting its stride it's over rather abruptly. The final level was clearly something they quickly slapped together so they could ship the game. I wish they had time to wrap it up the way they intended. ![]()
Hopefully they'll do a DLC with the 2nd half of game content that didn't make it for release (kind of like FO3 did with Broken Steel). ![]()
Overall, I had a lot of fun with the game despite the poor vehicle controls and menu navigation. Would definitely buy a sequel when/if it comes out.
Want doom 4 now plx.
