"Realism isn't always fun"
Best thing tim willits has ever said.

Couldn't agree more! It's great to see that even though they put a lot of effort into art and at some extent, tech; gameplay is still point #1.
You can tell their main focus really is to create simply a fun and enjoyable experience, no matter if it's realistic or not!
Weapons feel like their loads of fun to fire, it's relatively fast paced, I love the animation on those enemies and their hit-kill reactions. It just feels like it's loads of fun to bring those mutants down and see them going down in different ways. (Like on that indoor scene with the bow, the mutant turns his back and runs, gets shot in the back and the animation / ragdoll triggers accordingly, i just love that.)
Visually It lacks in some aspects, even though you can really see mega texture working in here, ergo you never see repetitive patterns and every area of the game looks very unique, the LDR render isn't helping very much. And I find the lack of specularity in the metals a little bit of a let down, making metal look very washed out and looking like plastic. It's lacking glossiness highlights.
I also think that color grading was a little bit overused, making the scenes look a bit monochromatic. And the transition from one color grading pattern to another is a bit abrupt.
The vegetation are billboards, which is a shame. But since their aiming at a 60fps game, it really helps saving performance, but personally it's a cheap trick.
So yeah, I'm glad to see It's still a id game at heart and I can't fucking wait! ![]()
Man, that was a lot of guns in that first trailer. Even showed guns they didn't use, like that one with a ring around the scope like an antenna or something.
yum, those are some satisfying weapon sounds!
Looks incredible, and has completely changed my mind about the game. This might be a first day purchase for me now. That city environment looks INCREDIBLE.
yeah the env art is incredible and the gameplay starts looking fun. not too fond about the animations yet, but well let's hope they work on them a little more. artstyle reminds me a lot of bulletstorm, just more "realistic" (proportions) and "next gen" (desaturated too much)...
The guy goes on about preordering, but i cant preorder it on steam wtf? ![]()
Me neither... I thought it was a german thing at first.
Looks incredible.
Cool looking tubular!
I'm kind of curious why they shifted from that really pretty yellow/purple lighting scheme on the approach to the city to an off-whitish lighting scheme once you enter it. Are they trying to convey mood by making all of the background appear as bone-colored for the whole dead city theme?

I'm pretty sure it's still there, it's different areas of the game.
New footage.
He was playing on a gamepad but had a press e to use? Are there e's on pads?
Nothing amazing, but certainly looked fun and enjoyable to me, and that's what counts.
So this is Borderlands 2?
The stuff with sentries and bots look quite cool, but the vehicle handling and combat looks pretty rough to me. Definitely gonna play it, but I don't get why people are especially excited by it based on what's been shown so far.
The wow-factor of Rage has slowly evolved into a meh-factor.
It looks like it could be fun, but not excellent nor groundbreaking.
I could be wrong and I hope I am ![]()
I wish games developers didn't post all the game play footage they can.
When I finally get my hands of the game I'm just gonna feel like I've seen it all before. ![]()

Rage has been developed on and refined entirely on PC, but they're forcing all their employees and testers to use 360 pads so that the game feel is more Halo than Quake. They're trying to build Rage for a market they want but don't really know, instead of the market they traditionally have, and it's just a bit worrying. Not to mention sad. This is the company that pioneered selling PC games in China instead of just having them stolen by signing licence agreements with bootleggers.
