It's not that slow. We're about to run our second TF2 league at Wireplay and most clans involved have had a great time. And while the general speed is definitely lesser than in TFC, I've found TF2 immensely fun and filled with just as much depth/skill progression. Maps such as Goldrush in particular get absolutely chaotic just like TFC maps did.

I just find it too slow for my liking to bother with in a league. I just enjoy faster paced games so I just stick to a quick blast on a public server with fast respawn then rage quit when I get arse raped by 7 pyros.

in those cases i just switch to pyro myself and claim that the team "needs more pyros"

A Heavy Update is said to roll in next tuesday (well it's THE heavy update)

    http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/

every day some new infos, starting this week with CP_Steel, awesome custom map. Fun fact: Just before Doug Lombardi dropped in with the infos our editorial staff at HLPortal was discussing to have community matches of cp_steel the whole next week...

The new weapons will be presented (which can be stretched to three days) but there are two more news to be revealed

    And the TF Blog states:

    Incoming Heavy!

    August 11, 2008 - Robin Walker

We've been a little quiet for the last week as we've put the finishing touches on the Heavy update. We thought the Pyro pack was the biggest we'd be doing for a while, due to the large changes to the Pyro, but the Heavy update has turned out to be even bigger. In addition to the three unlockable weapons and thirty-five achievements for the Heavy, we've got a new game mode with five new maps for it, a new Payload map focusing on more open spaces than Goldrush, and another popular community-made map. Throughout the rest of the week we'll be giving you the details on all this, and if all goes well, you'll have your hands on it shortly afterwards.

The community-made map included in the Heavy update is cp_steel, by Jamie 'Fishbus' Manson. After the Pyro update we received a lot of email telling us how wrong we were in our choices, and cp_steel was an easy next choice due to the way it dominated the suggestions. If you're firing up your email right now to tell us that we never get anything right, please include suggestions of what map(s) we should be looking at next.

We'll be updating A Heavy Update site with more info daily. Stay tuned!

I might actually have to fire up TF2 again when the engineer update comes out, because I see that being a whole new league of stupid.

Something I thought of the other day was a glove that delivers guaranteed crits if it's on fire. You can probably imagine what kind of scenario this is designed to aid in.

I just love these updates. They keep the game alive and as always I'm looking forward to it The heavy was kind-of ignored for way too long thanks to unwilling medics Maybe things will change now.

I was really hoping for a new and fresh look in the new map... instead i got another one which i will have hard time to tell apart from others.

Yeah, pity. There's still at least one other map on its way though, hopefully. I suspect the 'five arenas' they describe is basically one map split into five parts.

anyone up for a new enviroment design?

    [Blocked Image: http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/images/04_header.jpg]

see background - forrest and stuff (could be something like russian woods (white forrest tf2ish?)). oh and natascha seems pretty cool for non-aggressive heavies.

so SA is right and the shotgun replacement will be burgers and sandwhiches i guess?

zomg. If that really is a new environment then it will fit my TF2 map perfectly and save me a lot of time making new content.

The prospect of forest themed future maps is hot.

FYI the KGB page now shows the achievements' requirements.
