    Just came from the cinema!

Damn, this movie brought back good old memories, I used to love indy when I was a kid, and this movie folows the same lines from it's predecessors, so if you enjoyed the previous ones, you'll most likely love this one as well!

I totally recommend it, although I'd also recommend stepping into the cinema with an open minded spirit while watching this movie, you'll know what I mean!

Watched it last night, it was...good! I was pleasantly surprised, I'm always skeptical when sequels are made way after the original trilogy has been finished (alien 4, die hard 4, ...). They really stuck to the original style and didn't ride around too much on the fact that Indy got in his years. Entertaining flick for sure and I'm glad I saw it on the big screen, sound was great too!

I loved the beginning, but from the monkeys (read: ewoks) onwards, I was disappointed.

The last effects shot had me shitting bricks, though. That bit looked spectacular.

I've been so hyped the last couple of days and so scared of spoilers that I ate quick breakfast and lunch yesterday and today to avoid hearing anybody talk about the movie.

Just in case I'm gonna spoiler tag all of it.

I loved the first half, really great stuff. I feared that I wouldn't dig the entire alien thing, but I actually thought it worked out quite well (Maybe except for that last scene where the crystal aliens transform into a fleshy one, that was kinda bleh tbh, but I guess they needed a Raidereqsue moment ala the opening of the Ark). The second half though....didn't really enjoy that as much. It pretty much started when Mutt jumped the shar...lianas with the monkey army. The entire pacing of the 2nd half was pretty chunky, with Oxy sucking out a lot of the energy of the movie. I just got so tired of his ramblings that I kinda ended up wanting him to die, and having Indy being all friendly towards him actually made me slightly tired of Indy.

Also, even though I loved the fact that we spent a lot more time in tombs and temples this time around, then I also felt that there was too much of Indy talking about all these ancient things that I didn't really feel were that important to the story. I like that they tried to make for a more detailed story, but it felt like there were a bit too many things that didn't benefit the story, but maybe I'm just looking at it a bit too superficially.

Anyway, the entire portion in the "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" felt kinda messy put together for me. A lot of the scenes there felt kinda oddly put together, and having the group of 5 being able to stick together through all that stretched even Indy logics. Also I didn't give a fuck about Mac, he felt very much like a character that could easily have been written out. Felt more like a character they needed in the beginning to have somebody for Indy to crack jokes to in the first 15m of the movie, rather than a character that really helped the story in a meaningful way.

Oh and the ending was pretty horrible.

But all in all I think it was a really good movie, I'm just nitpicking because I love Indy so much, and I can't help but grab onto the small annoying issues I have with it. I thought the scenes with Indy and Mutt were mostly awesome (at least in the first half). Indy fridge was totally far out and I loved it, the shot of Indy looking at the nuclear explosion was nice. The fact that they used an old Paramount logo in the start rocked, the font for the start credits.

Johnny's score kinda lacked a really memorable sound to it, but it sounded like Indy so what the heck. Also lots of references to the old themes.

ah ah, indeed. I loved when the Arc shows up in that warehouse!

tbh, i though they were looking for the arc in the first place, because I remember the ending of Raiders of the Lost Ark when someone store the arc in this huge warehouse.

I was not too impressed. In general it was too fast paced for my taste, I needed some more relaxed moments in order to really be able to enjoy the action scenes.

An a lot of the scenes were way too unrealistic. I usually don't mind crazy stuff, but this was simply just too much in many places.

The ending was kinda boring. Too much alien shit, too much cg and too much romance. The vortex was taken straight out of some tech demo. The wedding was totally useless.

    + mostly old school feel

+ no i am getting to old for this shit jokes

+ sticks true to the indy formula

+ lots of traditional and yet original adventure/tomb exploring stuff

+ even the characters i expected to hate cate blanchet shia lebouf had redeeming values

    + old paramount logo

+ movie not ending with mutt being introduced as the new "INDY" ... not yet at least!

    - the magnetism of the alien technologies is very SELECTIVE what when and where it attracts things.

    - ninja zombi natives protecting that first tomb wtf

    - mutt nutsack whacking by bushes D:

    - this mac guy all together did contribute nothing and i felt all along that the party is too large

    - mutt tarzan monkey army scene this was the worse .... seriously spielberg what were you thinking/smoking ?

my god... those russians are going apeshit over nothing. ITS A FUCKING MOVIE... CHILL THE FUCK OUT...

oh and i thought it was pretty boring btw. the best part was the effect with the water in the end. but this whole alien thing and crystal skull shit bored the hell out of me. and mac was a useless character who had no purpose to the storyline.

    5/10

+I want to say I liked the soft HDR lighting and the clean shots

+Warehouse is back. Probably one of the most memorable movie scenes ever.

+The magnetism stuff made me grin.. even if it was not always consistent

+The nuclear test village was cool, you knew what was up the second he knocked on the door

+The ants were fucking awesome, even if ridiculous. Crazy FX.

+lol @ boarding the car from a bike and then back to the bike

+Even though I hate what's-his-dick (the kid), his character was fairly consistent

+Most of the FX were pretty killer

+Pretty insane choreography in the jeep scene

    -Not enough whipping

-Movie lasted about two minutes of "Any ordinary guy can do these stunts and keep going"

    -What's-his-dick threw a snake

-The skull looked very lightweight and fake in many scenes

-Retarded ninja tribesmen at the crystal cave

-One too many obvious connections that are still force ably explained, "Looks like you brought a knife... *draws gun* ... to a gun fight"

    -The refrigerator... fucking stupid.

    -Tarzan vines CG monkeys

    -Three impossible waterfalls

    -Too much alien shit

-Mac was a turncoat it seemed several times, but Indy seemed to just say, "LOL, WHO CARES!"

Overall, if you were to judge it as just an early summer movie, pretty damn awesome. But as the fourth Indy movie... way too crazy.

    + Old references

    + Visuals Effects

+ The kind of Gerbil at the beginning

    - Indy+Alien= it doesn't stick

    - Ending (All the Spielberg movie has a quick ending E.T, [...], The War of the Worlds and now Indy4)

    - The Communists stereotypes (Better died than red)

I thought it was really disappointing, the alien stuff was just out of place and that bit with the monkeys made me cringe so much I now need a facelift. As far as I'm concerned there are still only three Indy films...
