To Vista or not to Vista, thats the question!

The old Creative Live! cards were the series I had some issues with.

I recall in the early days of xp64 there being a compatibility list for software and hardware out there somwehere but it may have dwindled away 'cause I can't find it anymore. You could just narrow down which hardware you want and check the official sites and see if the drivers offer XP64 support. It shouldn't really be an issue if you're building a new system, all the problems I had were with older stuff. Newer hardware/software is most likely supported.

Ok, I give up. Do any of you know where I can buy a NON OEM copy of xp 64bit? everywhere I look its either OEM discs, vista, or entire PC's. None of which are the route I really want to go with. Although I'm not surprised its not the most straightforward thing since M$ declares vista to be Almighty.

Why? Retail versions are rip-offs. If you're sure your going to be using the same PC for a few years you may as well go for an OEM version. I've used OEM Windows XP for my PC and Laptop and have never had a problem with it.

The amazon one is being sold as 'used - Like New' I dont think buying an OS used no matter how good the disc is, is a good idea.

And as for why Non Oem? I hate buying software that I know will be unusable as soon as I make a substancial change to my hardware. For example, by the end of this summer I plan to have a near total overhaul of my PC. And then, at the speed current hardware prices are falling who knows I might upgrade that some too, How picky are OEM discs? I mean Im sure more ram, another HDD, or a second graphics card would be fine. but how much does it take to trip it? Leaving me without an OS?

I have tested Vista and its gay!

It's so unstable because my games crashed and all drivers was so unstable ( a real rapper like me don't use VISTA!) it takes too a great deal Ram in use and the UAC manager is gay too; it's the worst horrifying not fixed os I’ve ever seen. Still if it looks somewhat good it's really poor vista.... don't buy this crap :ssj:

the merely item that i like with Windows Vista is the aero-style that look so-so, not to good you know what i'm sayin?
