Oh yes, a pox on these farming lamers. After all, it's so easy to heal a teammate as he earns an achievement.

Or join a game a friend is in and heal them.

Or be the first person on your team to go medic after someone calls for one, then heal them. That'll be real easy now that there's 6 medics running around on every team...

The bottom line is that almost all of these achievements are so ridiculously hard and circumstantial, and all to get three measely weapons? I can only imagine the kind of frustration people would have trying to be there for a one in a million moment these things ask for, try to earn them, then get killed or have some sniper way behind them screw it up.

I had no qualms breezing through Call of Duty 4's multiplayer challenges for my golden guns, and if I played this game anymore I'd be probably be hard at work right now.

i couldnt agree more. i actually made this point before and got yelled on by people who thought/still think that i am not allowed to have an opinion. games with achievements are increasingly feeling like work over fun, or that you have to do something in order to get the good stuff. i can see there being a point in the future where valve overpowers a specific achievable weapon that requires some wicked achievements, and everyone and their dog will be slaving to get said achievements in order to be up par with the rest.

why not just make the weapon selection available at the beginning and omit all this bullshit for people who dont want to participate in it? that way achievement whores could have it their way, and everyone normal could just play the god damn game.

The point of these achievable weapons seems to be just popularize the medic class. Playing a supporting role isn't very rewarding in itself, and TF2's medic is a damn boring example. However that class is key for a team to success in this game, and gameplay is much more fluid when there are medics in your team, you die less times and you feel part of a team. So making the medic class more appealing using achievements and rewards is certainly interesting to me, perhaps not very well executed in this case. Other option would be making medics as fun as they were in TFC.

I was pretty unstoppable as a medic before, but now with the vampire gun i'm laughing. I find you can actually charge ahead of the pack with near total confidence, unlike most classes, all the while firing the gun to reclaim any health you lose from incoming fire. From your forward position you can then rain down needles on everything in sight, provide advanced healing from a hiding place where the enemy won't expect you to be or just sneak up behind the unsuspecting defence and bonesaw everything to death
