    Valve isn't very good at marketing. They like to use 2-3 old images for packages and other product media.

    Gotta love that plant though~

    I saw somebody playing it here in the office and saw screenshots and it didn't look that amazing, but in the end CS rather focuses on gameplay than fancy graphics. I think HL2 will look a lot better.

    Just a question, is DOD Source almost like CS Source? With new models, maps and such? If not it would sux cox bigtime 10times

    The overall mapping is rather basic, at some points, overly simple a la HL1 and unimpressive and even newbish. Textures and models are cool. Brushwork and overall design is too damn simple and unimaginative.

    For example this in one BUTT UGLY area!

    [Blocked Image: http://stratty.thezazi.net/images/de_chateau0013.jpg]

    The rooms in de_italy are still as undetailed, flat and unrealistic.

    [Blocked Image: http://stratty.thezazi.net/images/cs_italy0012.jpg]

    I assume CS:S is just like CS compared to other mods like NS. Simple and modest. The amateurs are once again about to beat the pros.

    Nevertheless, CS:S is cool, but could be a lot better.

    de_chateau. The texture gallery map from the old cs.

    They have great texture artists and modelers. The mapping just isn't good enough compared to the rest.

    And what is it with these pointy cliffs that are also seen in HL2?

    I suppose they cool but they are just the opposite of realistic.

    im glad they dont waste their time on the same old maps. They cant do much with it anyway cuz they dont wanna mess the gameplay, theyre not gonna change layout or geometry or add giant open areas with the old maps. That kinda stuff u will see in the new maps or custom ones with the next update i bet. Btw wrong forum DD!!!

    It doesn't change the fact the the area in the first pic looks incredibly unprofessional.

    ~~~
    I think cs_office was one of the best conversions. I didn't really like the original one since the theme was too contradictory and tasteless. Bad colors and stuff. It feels harmonic now.
    Chateau was a lousy map to begin with.
    Yes, office is amazing. And I don't really care that much about the graphics, the gameplay and physics are enough for me atm.
    I do agree with Stratty that the room with the stairs in chateau look pretty crappy.
    It isn't that undetailed. Just some of the interior areas. Chateau looks awesome too despite that one stupid room.
    I've noticed a lot of graphical artefacts with the water and specular surfaces, lots of white around the outside of water where it doesn’t know what to reflect and vertical streaks through specular textures. And given I have an x900, I doubt it’s my system.
    Another really irritating thing is it doesn’t seem to load an objects properties until they’re needed, i.e. if you shoot a chair for the first time it freezes for a second, works out what a chair does, then flings it/smashes it and from that point all chairs are hunky-dory – why doesn’t it get all this stuff when it loads?
    And the physics aren't that brilliant to be honest, they'll be better in HL2 when you can manipulate them more I assume, but the average gunfight in CS:S puts half the objects through other objects, lands them in stupid positions or makes them develop some kind of magnetic field which repels players.
    Counter-Strike 1.6 maps was a lot better then cs source.
    I don't know why but here is my options :
    the map sky is ugly in css
    the environment is darker now
    the textures is nice but looks so undetailed
    where is the details on italy and other maps
    no and no! de_cbble looks like legoland with the gray textures
    Aztek water? it's more then before!
    de dust 2 is very bright
    cs militia? and as_tundra? where did de_airstrip go? is this all?
    the fat colt m4a1. the fat!
    the fat shadows everywhere on the maps! they are like everywhere now.
    cs source feels very new. and looks very rea-listic. but wait! the cs1.6 maps was more detailed. And cs source maps is only re-alistic with minimal amount of detail.
    Okay the shield is gone! great.
    why does only cs office pwn all current maps in cs source?
    just look at cs havana..dammit where is the brother de_vegas?
    no, guys the maps is very very beautiful in cs source. But anyway undetailed! more details. more crates. more trees. more! more.
    Hey the team player skins is all the same. only 2 skins for each team?
    where did my lovely SAS, GIGN and LEET go?
    omg, just look at the maps! they are still SMALL.
    and de piranesi have a bad weather. hurricane!
    help. cs source is not 100 % done in my option. even if you bought it.
    :-?
    MORE WORK AND MORE TIME ON THE DAMN LEVELS! NOW! :evil:
    I judge!
    cs_havana = okay, not really that much of a visual improvement over the original version tbh
    cs_italy = wtf!? what went wrong here!? totally assraepd
    cs_office = like the old one, pure pwnage
    de_aztec = gaaah
    de_cobble = quite nice, its simple but its good simple
    de_chateau = generally looks really neat, some awesome water shitz
    de_dust = looks cool, some nice new detail, but the stuff they added with the trims that make it possible to go through the map alot faster is a bit fucked tbh
    de_dust2 = looks nice as well, bling bling
    de_piranesi = looks good in a few parts, bad in most others
    office is obviously bst one
    now where the fuck is prodigy?!
