Loving your stuff man. Are you available for contract work? Nothing major but I would like to get something made for my wall

oh wow, I don't think I can make something "wall worthy" yet but I can give it a try

    Great work

It has a certain Blade Runner/Deus Ex futurisitic vibe.

I like the vibe and palette. Perspective instead doesn't seem accurate, the walk seems to be a slope, while I supposed it's not supposed to be(?). Building on the right also seems inclined.

Did you paint constraining yourself to this canvas size or cropped afterwards?

Looks cool Mino, nice sense of atmosphere. As Blackdog said, the composition seems a bit off, and perspective is a little hard to read. But hey, much better than I could do

    nice!

i would love to see another iteration with much more precisely controlled lines and curvature. a lot of the lines and planes work against the face of the man cave building in strange ways, which is at odds with the really sharp and clean theme.

Yeah that's true, perspective is fucking hard to get perfect

I've been drawing a lot recently and that's been helping me immensely. I notice that everytime I commit a "terrible" mistake I learn from that and make new mistakes instead. If I could change one thing, I wouldn't have cropped the top building soon, and the top and right buildings don't look like they are in the same height due to some crazy optic illusion (which I only noticed when I was almost done with the piece).

hanks for the crits guys, they are super valuable, keep em coming!

    Liking your stuff, Minos!

I know what you mean about perspective, I'm finally committing myself to learning it properly. You probably already know about this vids but just in case:

I don't know how in depth you've gone into learning perspective but I know it would help a lot of your paintings tremendously, it's one the larger areas in your work that needs improvement.

Those look awesome indeed, thanks man!

A few weeks ago I had the realization of what was holding me back artistically is exactly the lack of drawing. When I started doing digital concepts a few years ago, I hadn't drawn in quite a long time and being able to make 2d concepts really fascinated me. I was able to work my around my lack of fundamentals by using cheap tricks and cool ideas. Instead of just drawing, I spent the past years training my eyes and watching a lot of art theory videos and tutorials. My idea was, because I was acquiring all that knowledge I would eventually become a better artist.

But the truth is, a good artist needs to be good at both the practical/theoretical aspect (perspective, shading, values etc) and the creative one.

Anyway, to make a long story short I began drawing again about 2 weeks ago, almost everyday, and I can already see a huge improvement. Each page on my sketchbook is about 10% better than the previous one and that has been a huge motivation to keep studying and getting better. I've also been doing a lot of quick thumbnail paintings during lunch breaks to practice value, composition, coloring etc... (that's how I started this painting, but inbetween this one and the last one I probably did about 12 quick thumbnails)

Thanks to everyone who has helped with crits and links, keep em coming because they are highly appreciated and helpful

Nice brah, nice. The area of the river closest to the main structure feels a lot closer than the rest of the river does (almost feels like it's at the same distance as the bridge), I think tweaking the values a bit lighter around that portion of the river might help give it some more depth? Also, some of the forms, specifically the cylindrical portions around the steps and door, read fairly flat.

Overall though, awesome stuff, especially for a quick lunch sketch. Good jod dude!

it has that Salarian science outpost vibe to it - but it could be a more residential area, very cool shapes.

Just trying some ideas for a fictional MMO that takes place in a distant world, where civilization is being rebuilt by space warriors.

This is a general store that can be found throughout the game's world. All stores follow the same design, making it easier for players to spot them (kind of like the Market and Centers in Pokemon).

And also to cut down on production time [Blocked Image: http://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/smile.gif]
