    What should they be using?

Seems to have that weird washed-out look that UT3 had. Really annoyed me, that did.

    Smart usage of normal mapping.

tbh, those shots are fugly! Desaturated, and way too normal mapped for my taste!

They should have used the crysis engine.

I have to say that the shots do all look wholly unattractive. Plenty of time, though.

the first two shots look fine, but the last one looks really bad. i agree on what peris said about the contrast and colors, it looks way too green as it is. i still use the fallout 3 wallpaper on my desktop atm, and the concept art from there is more or less perfect... why'd they move away from that?

looks cool but i want more color!! Dont desaturate fallout, it was a colorful game . That blue jumpsuit needs to pop out more!bethesda needs to use this as their reference:

I use that as my wallpaper and printed on A3 size to hang on my wall =)

Fallout wasn't very colorful though but Iagree that this washed-out look is really annoying (I'm with thrik on this one, that really annoyed me in UT3)

Why?! They have a good engine, look at Oblivion, the game still looks awesome!

Of course, that engine require a lot of tweaks and improvements to handle a game such of Fallout..

We'll see, I'm very disappointed of what I'm seeing from Bethesda lately, those shots are so not convincing me.

I thought this was probably the best screen released yet

    [Blocked Image: http://fallout.bethsoft.com/images/art/fallout3screens/screen17B.jpg]

Still a tad desaturated but there's definitely some colour popping through there. I just really love all the mechanical detail in that shot as well as the menu thing:

It's not as bad UT3 was but I can see where people are coming from. I wasn't a Fallout guy so I don't have too many expectations.

It does seem a bit uneven in the quality. Who knows, maybe the lead likes it that way?

Maybe it's because the game isn't done yet?
