I really want some of the content in Gold..

But the people who doesn't get Gold, do they never get an chance to play DOD Source and such?

Yes, I think most people are under the assumption that having hl2 on a cd means they will always be able to play it, no matter what happens. But all you are buying is the cdkey that will be tied to your steam account, and a hard copy of the cache (basically) So there is no real advantage to buying it at the store.

But why ol, its the same product

Maybe ppl were like this when they were first introduced to the bank cards. "Oh no, I don't want a crappy card. I need to feel the money in my hands."

It appears that freaking out because things change does not only apply to CS.
