Looks fucking awesome
Those spotlights arent illuminating anything though

Yea, but the goal of those spotlights isn't to lit the ground or such, they're anti-aircraft searchlights.
Quote from WikipediaSearchlights were used extensively in defense against nighttime aerial bomber raids around the time of World War II. In particular, pairs of searchlights spaced a known distance apart were used to determine (via triangulation) the altitude of enemy bombers, so that the fuses on anti-aircraft flak shells could be set appropriately for maximum effect. In addition, the lights may have blinded bombardiers using optical bombsights.

yeah you'd never see spotlights illuminate the ground...
yeah, but you have to keep in mind the light propagation, and light bounces. Just because It's pointed towards the sky, it doesn't mean it wont illuminate a little bit the surroundings, even the floor is a little bit lit up

i guess it depends on the angle too...
If you think a 100,000,000 candlelight spotlight is going to illuminate directly forward and nothing around it, then you have lost your mind

um, reflectors? there's gonna be fall off no doubt, but how much of it depends entirely of the specific reflector and how dirty the glass is

I'm going to try something like this ![]()

that depends on the lens and the brightness around as well.

Certain type of laser can do that ![]()
Yes a WWII spotlight is going to use precisely designed lasers
Yes, also make the beams as wide as the spotlight.
Yeah, I know, these beams suck but I can't do better with a point_spotligh. Indeed, there's no sprite of a beam whose width is the same along the beam.
The length is also very limited, it cannot be longer than 1000 inchs (buildings are about 700 inchs tall).
I may remove them if I can't make them better...
Beams are fine to me, but if you want more freedom, you can always play with alpha maps and make a custom one.
Or go old school and use the volumetric light texture on a vertex scaled arch? ![]()

Wow! Those shots look great! You could definitely add some interesting lighting in that area. Like mentioned previously, either spotlights or even some fire could light that area up nicely. Or maybe some of those lamp post strewn about could still be lit.

Haha
, I think I prefer my ugly sprites ![]()
Actually, I wonder whether a model of volumetrique light wouldn't be better... ![]()

Yea, I'll set up some fires! Someone (Tranxen 51) is making a particle for me ![]()
