360 not outputting to HDTVs

Recently my 360 stopped outputting a signal to HDTVs. It works fine with a standard definition TV, but when it's set up to run our HDTV that it has been working on in the past it just shows a black screen with no sound. I got a new Xbox media cable and same result. I went through every possible test configuration and even tried it on another HDTV but it won't work. The Wii, my iPod, PS3, DVD player...all of them work on the same set of component inputs in the back of the TV but the 360 won't. And yet it still works with standard definition TVs?

Anyone else heard of this error? I know many of us have gotten red ring'O death but this is different.

Best part is that when I called MSFT, they said my 360 was out of warranty and it would be $99 to repair.

Yes of course I am switching that. I had a fairly extensive test process to rule out what it might be...different HDTVs, different cables, differing inputs on different TVs, testing other devices on same inputs, etc etc etc. I just never heard of the HDTV output burning out while the standard TV output is unaffected.

The nice person from India on the Xbox telephone support line was also baffled and had not heard of that either.

Yours was a valid question, KFS. I wish I had VGA input in my crappy 720p Panasonic whatever it is Circa 2004. I'm sure the next TV will. Damn you MSFT and your inferior 360 HW!!!

Or... could the problem be in the HDTV settings of your Xbox 360? Have a look at this or possibly easier, going with the official Microsoft's solution.

Excellent suggestions. Thanks for pointing to me to that. The bad news is that none of that worked.

It seems I am not the only one: http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=503372 and I suspect that must be it (meaning, the bad sensor one of the posters mentions) because I get no sound or picture in HD modes.

update: I called MSFT support, they said I have to send it in AGAIN. At least my warranty has been extended by a year at cost of 99 bucks. This second time I won't have to pay for it, but holy shit didn't they test it? I've tried every test combination using my cousin's 360 cable, his HDTV as well as his 360 with my HTDV and it all points to my HD output STILL not working. We've tried every trick we can find on the web and nothing works.

OK got it working. We tried to reset the video output again and got it working....

YAY!!!!
