Map Design.. Where do i start?

all i found was tutorials from this site:

which are quite dated, are there any others that might help me learning how to map and use tools like Hammer?

That site does have tutorials that teach you how to use Hammer (L4D and CSGO). They're not dated. Stuff works the same in Hammer, from 2004 to 2015.

Check out TopHattWaffle as well. He has some really good tutorials. But I would stick to 3klikspilip. He will teach you a lot of the basics. But I learned 80% of hammer by just playing around. Learn how to use it, practice, and learn by playing around.

Edit: Take a look at current maps. See how they are built to get some idea of what a good map looks and plays like.
