Warby Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 maybe you still remember my making money with modding thread the bottom line was: -sell stuff on turbosquid (and the likes) - and make and sell indie games well making stuff for turbo squid is alot quicker than making full games ( i am busy doing that also) so here are my first products 4 modular photoreal european facade models with textures: http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Artist ... rby_seidel i don't really think you guys are my target audience for this since you are way too skilled to buy something like this and would just make it yourself instead but ... you know ... its about the artwork /edit i know i know screenshots or it didnt happen suggestions where i shoudl pimp this would be highly appreciated. you know were people are really in "need" for this sort of thing. i was thinking about posting it on the ogre forums for example but what ever you guys can come up with ... i demand to hear it Quote
Zacker Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 That's very photo based indeed! It looks pretty boring, but solid though. Do they have normalmaps? But 35$, isnt't that an a lot? I don't browse such sites much, but I am pretty sure you would usually sell simple stuff like this for less. Anyway, good luck with earning money on it, be sure to report back if it works! EDIT: Now that I actually read the details, I see that there is more than what meets the eye. LODs, collision meshes, etc. all obviously increase the value:) Quote
e-freak Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 are these shadows baked/photosourced? would decrease the value imo alot and wouldn't be that much work in photoshop really. Quote
Minos Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 are these shadows baked/photosourced? would decrease the value imo alot and wouldn't be that much work in photoshop really. I wouldn't. I think those are gonna sell pretty well warby, they are exactly what people are looking for in Turbosquid. Quote
Warby Posted February 3, 2009 Author Report Posted February 3, 2009 no i photoshoped out about 99% of the direct sunlight cast shadows on those facades the only stuff i left was the shadow under the balcony on facade D the shadow bheind the gate thign on facade B and all the shadows cast by the little blocks at the top trim on all of them ... because i think those enhance the 3d-ness tremendously and will not "fight/compete" with what ever lightmap /raytrace shadows the customers might use. Sa74n Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 35$ sounds pretty cheap to me. i guess you spent more than one hour on each piece? Quote
dux Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Jack up the price, that's peanuts for 2 days and the quality. Quote
e-freak Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 it's digital ware and will sell multiple units without multiple work so I assume 35$ * x is an ok price. after all you want to sell these and as long as you don't sell so many that you can be sure there's a solid market/demand really checking out these you shouldn't be raising prices. just my opinion from an economical point of view, the artwork is great and I'm not to judge what it's worth. AlexG Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 They look good. Definetly don't undersell yourself. I wouldn't know how much things like that cost. But $35 seems low. Test and see what is selling better. Up the price in a few weeks. Quote
2d-chris Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Great job - but the price is about right, you can't expect to sell something multiple times and charge what a one off would cost. Quote
Quakis Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 I personally think this should be touched up on; Quote
