So what did y'all think of Aperture Desk?

Can't help but sigh, I wish they hunger had a success franchise like what HL1 expansions and HL2 did. I mean by "spinoff"
More they hunger contents would've been nice, I like to think They Hunger: Lost Souls is the "HL2" of the They Hunger series speaking from sequel stuff.
They Hunger was out in the 1999
And They Hunger Lost Souls was probably mean following the same path like Half-Life 2.
but sigh

it's been 20 year where y'all BWG???

Founded in the 2000s and supported by the Counter-Strike developers turning into more a Half-Life production forum and then aaa/indies, Mapcore is a place i am so happy to be part as someone who's a disabled and pursuing a game dev career by a game essay school arc and passionate about mapcore history and Goldsrc/Source, I thanks Half-Life, Valve and @FMPONE for making this beautiful hidden gem site alive and all the wonderful thing are still here without Half-Life and valve there's no mapcore but we'll never forget our best moment and memory with
They Hunger
Black Mesa Source
Half-Life 1 and it's expansions
Half-Life 2
CS 1.6
Operation Black Mesa
Jurassic Life
Hidden Source
Fortress Forever
Philip old videos
No More Room In Hell
Dystopia
Natural Selection and so many mods and cool stuff we are all happy to be part of it ❤️
Even thought the forum still feel like a desert but it is still mapcore knows as mapcore in our heart.

IMO the issue back then was that modding Source was not really enjoyable due to the technical headaches and mediocre graphical and technical results. We could have worked on UE4 I guess. IMO the issue now is that people are working on big projects of their own that they are really passionate about.
I have good hope for Source 2 that when it gets a pancake experience people could pick up modding in a big way again. That might be the best time frame for people here to work on cool projects together. In a way, it’s surprising to me that more people aren’t already using Source 2, but I think that’s a result of the VR focus. I would definitely get a kick out of working with people like @Minos@-HP- @PogoP and others. As we are getting older we might not agree on as much though

I see Mapcore as a amazing gamedev community since it was started for Half-Life mods and now it's bigger, I had a dream where Mapcore would make games
it is possible that mapcore could be a game studio like Valve, Facepunch or Black Window Games?
would 100% support your games like the other indies

I haven't touched Source engine games and SDKs for almost 5 years but I felt compelled to check this one out after reading the features list.
The 3D lighting preview works well enough to make lighting tweaks happen in-editor without needing to compile. Having the 2D sky visible is the icing on the cake.
Having the 3D gizmo for movement translation, rotation and resizing, like most modern engines is a really nice touch.
The various quality of life improvements and features are all welcome.
Honestly, all these should have been default features of Hammer, especially lighting preview (we asked for it over a decade ago to no avail), but it's always the community that takes matters into its own hands to find solutions.
Source 2 and Source are still fun to work if you wanna return.

Honestly it does not seem like the best or healthiest sign, I don't know enough about economics to say what consolidation says about an overall industry, some of the articles said it pointed to decline, but maybe innovations like VR will shake things up in the future and introduce some more competition.
