making a skybox, takes fucking forever to render into unlit textures. still needs stars and that where its just purple currently but happy with it

0001-0120.mp4 @csWaldo I would have mentioned sourceops, but it doesnt support exporting UV's on brushes and the displacement method is a bit wonky ( i mean, it was based of my original version ). So those features have questionable utility to be honest.

looks like a nice design, get some walls on it and test :]

I wouldn't worry too much about fine timings or how the utility works just yet; most important to make the spaces feel natural in size and proportion, which can be misleading to gauge this without the vertical bits in place

maybe in the future there will be a proper release, but cant promise anything..

the source code is public here tho: https://harrygodden.com/git/?p=hcsgo.git;a=tree.

warning its heavily written for my workflow and currently the script (at least, large chunks of) only work on linux

Is this something similar to wallworm/3DSmax approach?

yea very similar idea to that, i taped together some of my old programming projects to export everything from blender as brushes/displacement. Hammer is almost unusable for me on my OS so this was the best workaround i can come up with.

making this future skyscraper pendulum type place. it will be for 2v2

mostly a proof of concept, since it was made without opening hammer at all.. we'll see how the rest goes.

Full blown games, with a programming language that runs 300,000 times slower than the already offensively bad mono runtime?

I think it is important to keep in mind VRChat and the likes are nothing more than fun social games.

The science fiction concept of 'metaverse' is nothing more than that. Games inspired by it will always remain as a subsection of the internet and don't threaten to be disruptive to.. anything really.

okaaaay actually really good. someone got it for me as a gift so ive been kinda forced to play it ^^. i do not typically like anything spooky but this changed my mind. going through a scene 50% sheer bloody panicking and 50% shitting it then coming out of it like 'wow that was actually really well designed is awesome..

also the vortigaunts are the chillest dudes

< 24 hours to go. I am cautiously excited.

Its going to be very easy to criticize the game because its half life and because its valve, the standards are of course already far too high.

If you're not interested in VR already it likely wont do very much for you past the game, so I wouldn't take a index for it.

If you are interested because its half life, the additional costs needed for vive/index isn't much of a step up from previous generations, you can get an equivalent and sometimes better experience through the cheaper options if you just want to play this game.

That's my recommendations if anyone is on the fence about buying a vr for this.

There's a similar discussion on every contest, just don't worry about it, maybe focus on actually making a level instead.

Just sculpting in Blender :p. And the rock collection is packed into a 4096x4096 texture. Might need to find a way to push it higher though.
