Looks nice for your first attempt! Seems to tile nicely too. I think you have a real shot at wining this contest looking at the number of finished projects if you can get this done on time.

Map looks great! As for the story, why such a big breakthrough if the disease is classified and presumably no one in the public has it?

[Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/4DTT3Bx.jpg]A luxury restaurant and hotel complex becomes the site of a fierce battle as a swat team is sent to terminate a terrorist group that has seized control of the building and the surrounding grounds.

Still heavily in development, all feedback welcome. The lighting is especially WIP. Currently contains a mix of assets from cs_agency, cs_workout and de_resort. Thanks to Puddy, Skybex and Yanzl respectively.

(I hope to reduce the amount of these by making some of my own textures)

English isn't my first language, but I guess that down to a point mean good, or accurate? As for the name, I have thought about this problem, I was thinking about maybe de_strife, but maybe that is way to close to the old map de_strike?

How can the coordinates change tho, I only changed the name of the file. ):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co5aKOGcHaw He says Caliche at 4:30 if you are interested, but you should the whole clip.

Yes "on point" means great or perfect.

The theme is down to a point. As for the name, maybe I am stupid but it is hard to work out how to say at first. You way want to look at an easier one.

    EDIT: Just did a google,

"Caliche is a layer of soil in which the soil particles have been cemented together by lime (calcium carbonate, CaCO3). Caliche is usually found as a light-colored layer in the soil or as white or cream-colored concretions (lumps) mixed with the soil."Maybe limestone/quick lime may work better. Instantly recognisable. Even the auto-correct doesn't no what "chaliche" is.[/list]

Yes you are right, but for now the visuals are less important than the gameplay, if the layout fits and works out well i will defenetly get into the details but its not worth doing now. does anybody have an idea what i could do instead of the zic-zac pillar in B? this was just something that could have worked and has some space inbetween for crucial Grenades for both teams.

Maybe a similar thing but smaller such as:

    http://www.hgdecoration.com/gallery/modern…re-artists2.jpg

Still needs to be fairly square though to stop odd angles to shoot around in a very important area.

Small think that may make a big difference. I think the main feature piece on B, the zig zagged pillar, should be changed I think it visually doesn't look as good or fit in with the rest of the map. Everything else looks impeccable.

Also maybe increase the number or cube maps on some of the walls in mid. The lighting looks very blocky.

I would try minimising the angles from higher up i.e. you have the hight advantage but you can only watch one angle or small area. This will mean that it is less overpowered a place to play.

Also maybe make the upper area something both teams have to fight for at the round start so that neither team gets the advantage for free like upper is in some ways on de_zoo.

P.S: Try looking at the mall level in Left 4 Dead 2. I wad converting it into an arms race map a while ago and it may give you some ideas and props you could use.

There's more to comment on when it's further along visually. We can see pictures and question use of certain props/colours/textures.

If you want to talk about gameplay then people need to create better posts WITH a radar view so we can actually see rotation time. When you see the same mistakes happening again and again it gets tiring to have to repeat yourself and a lot of time feedback is ignored. Becoming proficient with hammer is one thing, but when people create maps with roads that are 1000 pixels wide and 4000 long there isn't really much to say other than "have you ever played counter strike before?"

Well then tell them that. We don't want hammer mapping to become an elite art only a few are allowed to know. Talk to them, suggest better widths. Say something like: "Hey, just so you know, roads in hammer should be 128 units wide per lane." I fall into the trap of ignoring them too but remember at some point you were making your first maps like that and would have died for some really helpful feedback.

Well, the blue wall is supposed to be retractable seating, like the sort that you see in a school auditorium or something like that. That area still does need a lot of work, especially on the roofing and surrounding, non-accesible areas.

Well, the whole map is lackluster at best. The layout's fine in my eyes, but so far the overall looks of it are very plain and lacking any sort of style.

I was thinking of visiting a nearby theatre house for inspiration - there's one in my town, and perhaps going there would give me some ideas.

I contacted you a while ago about helping on opera after seeing it on the reddit. You never replied. we can talk if you are still interested here: http://www.steamcommunity.com/id/quotingmc

I have to agree. The maps that get the most comments are always the mostly finished ones. I thought a site just for mappers would maybe be a little les biased towards the maps that look great. I would think that more feedback would be given to the maps that need it, not the ones that are near enough finished.
