    Hi there!

I think that some people may relate to my issue, so I decided to post it there.

My issue is either that my HDD is failing or there is a weird contact at the HDD port, since it randomly crashes after I move my laptop, but almost never crashes when I leave it in a state where it doesn't move. I'll have someone come over to help the diagnosis, especially to test the HDD more thoroughly. (When it is recognized by my laptop, standard HDD test are passed successfully).

Anyway, I don't know if it is worth upgrading or changing the storage unit if it fails, or if I'll be better off changing it all.

I have a 2 and half year old HP laptop, and i5 (I'll have to recheck which one) and an AMD 7600M series (which are now unsupported for new Amd driver because they are changing their gpu architecture). I will hopefully end up with a 500€ budget this summer and I have already everything for a desktop computer except the monitor.

Looks like the new maps did a good job with the clipping. Royal could need some more work though

Most of Royal issues aren't doable in competitive mat hmaking

(Nuke is fairly unpolished on that regard )

Does anyone have any knowledge of whether Valve will incorporate changes from the workshop if it's something important like these exploits?

they did it in the past, but to be fair some of the exploits of the video aren't doable in 5v5 competitive matches, and not doable in casual because of the player collision.

also Nuke needs a lot of fixes so they can patch your map too as well with the patches I guess :)

However, insulting mothers, families, homosexuals, speading xenophobia and forcing one's views is unacceptable and therefor Kermal is banned.

So the discussion ends with this post and let's get back to the topic at hand.

    man I missed something!

you want solution to be a bit neo futuristic too? :)

Does anyone have knowledge about what Valve is trying to accomplish with Nuke? :)

by the way congrats to everyone !

It's specifically the shader setting. Don't go above medium and you should be fine.

yeah, but that's not acceptable, I mean, forcing half of the player to lower their settings because they didn't make their update correctly is insane. I thought there was basic testing for that sort of production.

Has the game been broken for anyone else? Mine crash back to desktop randomly and like each 5minutes of game.

Nevermind, amd hardware isn't supported apparently, even people with brand new and top notch amd hardware can't play it in a stable manner. Maybe it has something to do with the new graphics setting they implemented for grass etc?

"Based on player height" sounds odd, but I guess that you can have 2 different radar images on Nuke based on if you're on A-site or B-site? Correct?

should be an event trigger based on the altitude of the player like: between z=a and z=b you have one radar, and between z=b and z=c another etc, right?

I do like the new changes for SDK:

-[vbsp.exe] increased MAX_MAP_ENTITIES to 20480 from 16384 to compile bigger maps.
    – Maps can have multiple radar images based on player height.

And seems like they did some fixes for squaky on newke
    – Fixed an assert in prop_door_rotating where it tried to play a “locked” activity regardless of it had it when the player used it when locked.

New radar=> new use of verticality with less brain fuck with radar in game :)

Real headhunters are more classy than that, they use their network to get infos about who is worth the trouble for an interesting job. But they only are used for high payed, and high responsability jobs!

Personnally if I were you, I wouldn't even bother with that, you have successful experiences and eden loved you, so you should find a job pretty easily on your own I guess.

Seeing at my brother experience, he almost got in such recruitment places, and now he is thankful he waited a bit longer because he got a better job than all his friend who went there.

If you really are afraid not to find a job, you'd be better off in consulting places (if that exists in the gaming industry ).

Because it will make you work for various companies, and you can make a good impression there, and see how it works there on order to better choose, and be more aware of where jobs are.

Title is misleading but anyway? Headhunters will come to you and you won't have to pay a dime since it's the company which will ne paying for him.

We had a warning at our school though about these. Sometimes people will pass themselves off as headhunters on LinkedIn just to get to your network and benefit from that. But from the rare people I know who were headhunted it didn't happen and they both ended up with fabulous jobs :)

About mixing JS and C#, my understanding is that it is possible but a bit messy because you have to understand script compilation order

    See here: http://docs.unity3d.com/412/Documentat…Advanced29.html

EDIT: Maybe this one is clearer:

    http://docs.unity3d.com/412/Documentat…/Scripting.html

Good luck, unity is nice but can be a bit weird sometimes to get to think within its boundaries and work around its limitations

    @clankill3r

The library for Unity is in C#, a language I don't know, I don't know Javascript either, so I'll have to learn either one of them.

(I basically only know well Python)

And I heard JS is easier than C# but doing the game with the leap in JS would mean either doing it without Unity, and end up with something really simplified ( got only 3 months to do the project after study hours ), or trying to do it in Unity, mixing scripts in C# (leap motion scripts ) and JS (my scripts), or doing it all in C# in Unity.

I'm just afraid not to have enough time to learn C# because it looks frightening, what would you recommend?

I think you have better luck asking on either the leap or unity forum.
    I guess it is possible.

I do that too but I figured having experience from people here might help :)

    I'm a newbie, so I figured I might ask

Has anyone ever used a leap motion sensor (link) with Unity?

If so, the modules for that hardware for Unity are written in C#, but with my group we wanted to code in Javascript. I haven't found infos about how to use different languages in the same game, is that possible and if so is it hard?

I know games are usually designed like that with different languages for optimization purposes, but is it possible with Unity?

Thanks in advance for your expertise!

@leplubodeslapin you'll end up doing games I'm sure of that!

It is becoming a vector of work in so many unexpected ways...

People are developing games to fight autism, research labs are creating games on their own to test social hypothesis, and so on, so I'm sure you'll find the right place to do both games and mechanical engineering , and since you'll deserve it you'll get it soon enough :)
