• Want Help Building / Upgrading a PC?

    • laminutederire
    • March 19, 2016 at 2:57 PM

Hi everyone , I wanted to get advices for a PC monitor. I want a not too expensive monitor for work and to play with as well. Budget is less than 200 euros. Two things I really want are something good to limit eye strain, and a well uilt monitor which could last a few years at least 3-4 years. On the size front, I thought 22 to 25 inches should be enough.

The best monitor I found so far is that one:

    manufacturer infos

retailer (in french but that gives the price etc)

what would you think about such a choice?

    Thanks in advance /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" title=":)" width="15">

I actually like the new iteration of the looks of the mobile version /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" title=":)" width="15">

Just had one weird thing which happened once so that's probably an issue of my Internet connection not loading the text editing area. If that happens again and often everyone should be complaining by now!

    Thanks for the update!

Do invented title work as well? If so I want to be a game scientist, as in a man of science using that knowledge to create new things in games. Thanks to science I know how to walk on fire, so there could be some things I could do in that industry as well :)

To me it's an evolution which should be welcomed.

I tried to design a similar type of thing, with a door which is unlocked by a button. The things I learned with that was to:

-first, ask the question: what does it provide to the map? Is it a way to boost a team, to refrain a team?

-secondly, I had to ask myself how it can be abused to tame it down and balance it. For instance, for a team not to abuse it, the other team can have the possibility to use it to their advantage as well. What other have said about noise is something useful for balance: make it so if a team use it, it can be countered by a smoke or something like that for instance.

    - thirdly, what kind of classic design could achieve the same tactical opportunities, boost? One way drops? Etc.

-fourthly, and lastly, how can I make people understand the rules of the mecanism in an obvious way?

I don't know what has arisen from your thoughts, and I'd be happy to hear all about it, but to my mind those are the question I asked myself to use new mechanics for competitive viable maps.

Been replaying the first one lately, still looking pretty good for a 8years old game

I'll buy the pc version to compare it to other games I have, but I'd say that game look like a 2012 ish game more than a 2008 one.

LFS is a piece of crap to get to work properly. Use P4. If you want a server, assembla.com offers free p4 space.

yeah and perforce is getting its own free p4 space with 5 times the space

Thank you so far for your feedback. It shows me, that i wasnt too wrong with my concerns about complexity...

If I understand you right you'd completely remove the T-Drop path and change the route from court to B-Main by shifting it's entrance position more towards mid.

I didn't see th non walkable area when I saw the overview on my phone, so I wanted to suggest to remove it, but you already did:

So I'll be saying almsot the same as you with that:

The content cannot be displayed because it is no longer available.

I'd try to simplify redundant paths. For instance on the A part of the map, you have the T drop and a connector which lead in the A side - mid connector that could be simplified with only one route instead of two. Or maybe the first embranchement to B, it is going in parallel of the start of mid, and that's something you could imagine simplifying, making people go through the beginning of mid to go to B

If you have any SCM issues or questions I can try to help out. Regardless of whether you choose git or p4

I will take you up on that help offer when i'll have covered the basics I guess. Currently I am struggling to set up correct workspaces and correct file mapping, but I tried to set those up when I was really tired, so that explains!

Are there things to look out for on the server side, like particular specifications?

Having no server myself I'm using the cloud based service from Perforce to begin with, which, from what I understood, is like Assembla but with more space storage on the free versions (5Go should be enough for that game since it is supposed to be a lightweight game usable on mobile devices, or maybe I'm completely off, it's the first game my team is doing to be honest)

I started perforce yesterday, but steep when you never have done something with servers!

Where are your servers? On the cloud or in a private server? To a beginner as myself, the cloud seem better, less expensive, and safer, don't know if I'm right though!

How much humiliation must I subject myself to if I end up actually playing?

if you're talking about being rekt, it will depend on your level, but even those who were global elite (maybe still are?) aren't going to absolutely shred you to pieces if you are only in the nova - silver area like me

You will still play the game and should have fun :)

What version control software do you use at your studio? And which one would you recommend for ease of use and stability?

a more realistic option could be a photonic propulsion laser launchpad.

this technique allows us to push a 100kg unit to mars within some days. and its feasible with the technology we have today.

    nasa video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCDuAiA6kX0

Those americans! They think they are the only one doing things in the world (that guy made me laugh when he talked about Ligo's mirrors ^^ Have you listened to the conference? so few concrete infos to really take that too serisouly) ANyway, that will be at NiHil's to decide for his artistic approach :)

Confirmed map feature: CT's can push a button which fires the engines and engulfs the entire A-site in flames, killing any T's on the site

ahaha button is in CT spawn and re usable: easy retake

but more Seriously, you can imagine putting the same smoke that firing that type of engine causes.

    you have a one-time smoke feature for 2 or 3 seconds !

This is true. Maybe it could be a rig where the engines are tested before the real launch? I'm sure they test them beforehand, but maybe check up on that fact

I've seen a video of nasa testing a combustion engine... the flame went on a few meters, that could be cool to see in a map ;)

Let's hope we'll playtest it soon.

However absolutely no rocket can be launched in a such a tight space, maybe say if is a museum with a real size rocket model :) but that's a detail!
