Compare Olofmeister's opinions on new nuke to a random reddit 'pro'.

'Well it'll probably have problems but then we give feedback and they make it better- that's how it works'

I wouldn't say 'futuristic' but I'll be trying to emulate the use of colour and lighting. Trying being the operative word

-
@FMPONE started this recolouring props trend with santorini. I like it a lot - it's easy and a cheap way of making areas unique.
Valve making it more consistent when recolouring stuff is great.
-
sooo has anyone searched for 'HR' in the texture browser and noticed anything unexpected?

props to lizard for finding.
Quoteno reddit posts on it please, matt wood's twitter can only take so much

Between this and Train they've basically removed any reason for any source mappers making the standard industrial themed map we've seen 1000 times before.
Death to ancient props in 2016

it is quite portal2ish in looks= bright and colourful. I'd say santorini/coast (and to a lesser extent milka) are a little like this too.
I prefer this to be honest as its nicer to play in than a drab environment. I'm aiming for Solution being like this too (we'll see what happens there)

Any idea why valve is moving toward model-heavy maps? pretty much all the detailing seems to be model based - no where near as many decals etc as normal. Things that were handled by decals in train_hr like no smoking signs etc have been made into models for hr_nuke
-
all the models are under hr_nuke in sdk. Already using a bunch of them! new exit and other signage! huzzah!
They have added more 64 unit crates though :<

Quote from Vorontsov
Yeah but some of us toasters dropped from 120+ fps on old nuke to 40-60 fps on newke, either way it's a really beautiful map.
while I feel for you valve need to keep pushing the visuals forward to keep as many people as possible interested as possible.
The old version of nuke was built off of a 10 year old VMF (it's literally the same one used for CSS if you look at the nodrawed brushwork) so it's going to run better on older hardware.
-
I hope valve are currently hoovering up mappers to give all maps the nuke treatment. That + source2 at the same time would turn the 20millon accounts into 40m.
Dust2 looks like a css map now in comparison to the new stuff getting put out.

Mikla may seem weird when you're running around it but I think it's super intuitive in a match. I'm enjoying all the maps just now (even nuke which has had all it's edges smoothed.
QuoteI think that's good. Now T's can take more control of yard. I really like the new rafters leading to CT-side heaven, I've always wanted to see that walkway implemented
my problem with this is now ANY T team can roll right over yard like a tidal wave. What does a CT hold when the terrorists can come from like 2-3 different levels? The map may well go from super CT sided to super T sided.
-
yeah. I've put a bunch of screenshots on steam. Very pretty!
-
nuke looks crazy good. I'm sad they've removed all the skill jumps though and made it easy to get on silo/up the outside near ladder.
Mapcore MM tonight on operation maps/nuke?
