You can save the game anytime jackophant. New save from menu or F5 for quick save.

finding the camera lags behind a bit and is a bit awkward in battle, but im sure ill get used to. muuuuuch softer entry rather than the baptism by fire of W2.

save points are a little spaced out as well, i think the 50minutes i have on it so far are the first 10 minutes repeated

loving it otherwise! ive lowered my settings a bit for more consistent FPS, but you can just tell it would look amazing on a beast of a computer.

I'm sorry guys, I only started playing games around Quake 2, and used to love watching my dad play before that. The original Dooms just never crossed my path.

Also, not to put the game down at all, but a large element of your love for it will be nostalgia and it's harder for someone who doesn't have those fond memories to necessarily enjoy playing an older game like this.

I played the easter egg in wolfenstein: new world order, does that count?

I liked the horror direction Doom 3 and spin offs took. I never played the originals, but were they meant to be action / horror / what? I was never too sure.

Either way, teaser typically gives nothing away other than the return of the super shotgun and the revenant, but I'm still excited!

gimme gimme gimme dat beta access!

You can better visualize the idea of a "consistent theme" by asking yourself a few key questions:

    1. Where in the world does my level take place in geographically?

    2. What type of theme am I going for -- clean (Season, Train, Agency) or dirty (Cache, Dust, Overpass)? In-between? a mix of the two?

    3. What type of emotions do I want to evoke in players? Are they going to feel cheerful when they play this level or is it bleak, or is it cool and interesting, what is the vibe of the level?

    4. What is the story of your level -- are players trying to blow up a gas station? What kind of gas station? Is it in the desert or in a big city?

    5. What films, concept art, or games provide reference images for this sort of theme?

Then you match the art of your level to help address these questions for yourself and for players.

I always love reading something that seems like it should be so obvious but I've completely missed.

It's crazy how quickly this is changing. It looks a lot better, but for the love of god, please remove all the barbed/razor wire from on top of the concrete barriers!

B looks much more interesting for gameplay, but I find the site itself to be a little unbelievable. The overhang is far too low down to warrant having any vehicle refuel at that station and it's also unsupported which makes it look less real.

    Overall, good job

It would be really great if dropping out of school right now made more sense than just finishing. Ya know? Cause I'm not really "into it" as much as I probably should be.

I dropped out of uni, I was 3 out of 4 years into the course. I was well aware of some of the difficulties of preemptively leaving my course, but I'd learnt all they could teach me and I was really unhappy there. After a fairly brutal job hunt, I'm now employed, and learning far more daily than I was with my course. I'm not saying you should drop out because I did, but higher education isn't for everyone and there's no shame in admitting that.

Wahey! congrats man! Check you out with your period features as well After my wedding next year, I'm going to have to climb on that ladder, and with the house prices around London... I'd rather just have a nice car and live in a hovel

I'm a bit baffled by all this praise for FO3… around here always complaining about grey palettes, and FO was one of the most smeared graphics, all gray/green.

I don't like RPGs in the first place (I can't stand the "points distribution" mechanic) but the aiming mechanic made sure I was never getting near the game.

Happy for you guys if you get a sequel soon. Personally just interested in Dishonored, although haven't had the time to play the first yet (only started it)

The grey/green was the tone for the nuclear apocalypse obv I thought it worked in setting the mood.

The point distribution is a major gripe of mine, I much prefer the more recent Skyrim method of gaining experience for something the more you use it, but it's a more recent game and gameplay would be expected to improve.

If the aiming mechanic you are talking about is VATS ( the stop time and target various body parts and each shot utilises a certain number of AP) that was just a method of battle. You could build your character to specialise in VATS combat, but I personally didn't bother. I didn't need the computer to tell me I had a 30% of taking the guys head off at 5 paces away when I could just shoot him in the face myself (or punch, I'm a large advocate of melee characters when the option is available).

But seriously, watch this space, I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think you've missed a gem!

I would like to see a post-apocalyptic game based in england.

I think Killing Floor sort of covered it, and Hellgate: London sort of... died, but I think London's rich history would lend itself well to a game like that.

Hope its more like new vegas than fallout3

How can you say that?! D:

FONV has nothing on FO3. The setting and explorable locations were so much better, and far more interesting.

But it definitely needs the progression system of skyrim, where you gain experience with the weapons you use and if you sneak. Maybe they could include stamina and health in that as well... melee characters would naturally have their health increase faster to complement their tanky nature, and characters who run a lot would have increased stamina letting them hold their breath more or swing more with a weapon.

Please let there be coop as well, that would be icing on the cake.

By my rough calculations we had the slight edge in average rank, even though those SMFCs still caused us some saltiness. Overall we held it together. Some great rounds by everyone and that last round was a real nail biter! GG!

  • making a partly invisible weapon in CSGO, like in Quake Live

    • jackophant
    • May 6, 2015 at 2:53 PM

I'm pretty sure even if you could make the weapon partially invisible like you're suggesting, valve wouldn't allow it anyway, just like how cl_drawhud 0 and other similar convars are protected by sv_cheats 1.

It could be prevented on purpose, but you can create an alpha channel to protect certain elements of your design from too much wear if that's what you mean? (i presume you don't seeing as Q3/L weapons could be made entirely translucent)

    in blue obv...

Windows doesn't support it as standard, but there are a few tools you can use to make it work, and the bonus is the working trackpad as well as wireless support (which I think I'm right in saying microsoft still don't support for their own controllers?).

I also purchased a new webcam so anyone bored enough to watch my stream can see my mug in perfect clarity!
