Judging from the announcement trailer, I'm assuming it's taking place in 1970s post-Vietnam era?
If it is then it's a refreshing change and a logical continuation to the 20s and 40s setup of the first 2 games.

Nice work
The robot looks like a little suicide bomber ![]()
I was a fan of the first despite some shortcomings. Can't wait for this one, keep up the good work Paul ![]()
Quote from SpronyWell, I don't recognize what this guy is saying. Not that I have played a lot of MP but every time I did, I had no problem connecting to a server with active players.
Good to hear ![]()
I'm making the map in any case; HL1 deathmatch is too dear to my heart and it is where everything started for me in level design. It will just be on the back burner until I finish the 2 CSGO projects currently in progress.
Having the upgrade files sitting in my PC since Wednesday awaiting my backup, I finally had the time today to finalize everything and went ahead with the upgrade.
Very smooth and no issues at all; only thing I had to do after the upgrade was to install the new Win10 Nvidia driver.
I kept a local profile just like win 7 without signing in with a Microsoft live account, disabled all privacy settings, ditched Cortana and all is fine ![]()
Tested many programs and everything works out of the box; tested CSGO and Black Mesa as well as CSGO SDK - flawless operation.
Hope this helps anyone who is on the fence with the upgrade.
The Win 10 setup file already downloaded on my system through windows update (on win 7 currently). Will do the upgrade tomorrow on Sunday after I finish backing up my files (just in case).
Quote from BeckMy beard trimmer died the other day. Got a new one and tried it out... now my beard is shorter than normal
Haha, I know the feeling ![]()
My Philips beard trimmer died on me 5-6 years ago and I replaced it with a Rowenta model and it never gave me the trim length I was used to. I reverted back to a Philips one recently ![]()
If this is true then it is really de-motivational. I am about to start working on a multiplayer deathmatch level for BM but if really servers are deserted and no one is playing multiplayer, then I don't see the point of making the level (other than for my own satisfaction).
Quote from SpronyIt's temporarily disabled.
I see; hope they get restored soon ![]()
In another issue, I'm not getting emails when someone quotes or mentions me in a post. The "notification" and "email" are both checked in my settings and I double checked just to make sure. You quoted me here in this post but i did not get any email to notify me; only when I logged in i got the red notification (in the old mapcore system, i used to get email notification normally).
Is this a bug?
What happened to signatures? can't find them in the profile settings; temporary or permanent removal? :???:
Quote from tommModel appears to be messed up for me too, so I figured this needed some sherlock holmes investigation.
So I opened up the model in HLMV only to see that it's missing materials.
There are more models in CSGO that suffer from the same "black" outcome; I can remember some pine trees models off the top of my head and there are a lot more that are partially or fully black as a result of a missing vtf or the vmt referencing an incorrect path of the vtf.
It's a shame the VPKs aren't updated with new mdls and vmts.
Quote from mr.Psome wip screens from heat remake level for csgo, this will be my largest csgo project to date, 80-90 custom props, 20-30 new materials, also testing a new workflow using source 2 hammer to create level specific props and exporting them 1:1 to source,
some non-sexy screens,
This is awesome.
It's happening :-D; told you last year when you started your Dota2 project that you'll spearhead the source2 development for CSGO and here we are ![]()
Thanks for the comments and suggestions everyone ![]()
This is just a test map :D, to get the feel and the combination of the 2D sky/lighting with the 3D New York skydome. The lighting is not final (intensity/color/ambience), there is no fog, no proper reflections; buildings were randomly added in the 3D sky just to get an urban feel and the textures are stock awaiting my creation of the custom textures (proper reflections, self illumination of windows/storefronts, etc).
@ tomm: the 2D sky is a stock HL2 sky that i modified the setup of brightness/color/ambience/pitch etc to suit my vision of the night setup. The NYC skydome is a composition of the 2 panoramic NYC night skylines that I "heavily" layered and retouched in PS.
@ Squad: summoning Batman will create an unfair game since you'll have 6 CT vs 5 T :P. The idea is cool though and I might add the signal somewhere as an Easter egg in the final map.
Following my good friend Squad's advice, I further dimmed the dark bits of the cityscape; the results look much better

To get a better view of the night setup/skybox, I went ahead and made another test map, slightly more urban to get a proper feel of the skybox.

I'm sorta getting nostalgic vibes of Deus Ex 1 ( the mission when JC Denton goes to NYC's Battery Park)
and I like it.
Haven't been playing anything lately but I'm starting to replay Shadow Warrior Classic.
Quote from SquadNice start
I think it would look better though if the unlit parts of the buildings would be darker. Like in the picture below.

Agreed ![]()
Will have an overlay layer with darker levels to dim the buildings.

I've been inactive/offline for the past 2 months; life hasn't been easy on me.
I'm slowly getting back to my pending projects, some of them for more than a year now.
I see the site has changed graphically (interface), for the better, and I noticed a LOT of new members that I'm unfamiliar with.
I'm toying around with a night setup/3D skybox for the upcoming 3rd map in the New York trilogy (after East Borough and Brooktown) for CSGO.
Here's a quick shot from a test map:

I'll be posting WIP threads once there is solid progress on these projects (for CSGO as well as for Black Mesa and Pirates, Vikings & Knights)
Cheers
