Are you all talking about the base rate? Cos it obviously goes way up if you earn more.

I chose between posting a ton of different rates or just take the base, so I took the base! Should've mentioned it though, thanks for pointing it out.

Thing is, if what you pay is effectively going to be in your future pocket, it's all good.

In Italy they are continuing to push the retirement date forward, I don't think anyone of my generation is confident they are getting a pension at all, or not comparable to what they have payed through work.

Here council tax is (of course) separate (and varies town to town). Garbage is an additional tax/service. Now in a big part of the country we have door to door differentiated garbage collection.

So what you're saying is that young people have to think loooong ahead because the pension system is "defect"? That's bad, they could just as well remove it then.

That seems messy, I wonder how much resources that goes into administrating the whole door to door-thing. To me it sounds a bit like how some companies sending you analog reminder fees so low that the letter they send actually cost more than they earn on the fee.

    45% in Germany.

Damn, that's super high. Do you get high pension out of that? Where does it all go? Coffe cakes for the gov?

That's actually higher than us Sentura, we have ~32%.

Thanks, I always thought it was just in Italy we got such a high level of taxes to pay.

As far as I know we also got pretty high taxes here in Sweden compared to other countries, it could be all wrong though - since I haven't lived anywhere else.

Here's some progress on my level! Still very early and I haven't finished the layout quite yet.

And here's a picture of the "Ramp-cart" and the temporary-bridge made by boats. I wanted to do someting "action movie gimmick" and I'm not sure if it will be too silly or not, we'll see!

(Side-note: I had Xerxes bridge of boats as inspiration.)

    Edit:

Added the path for the bombcart to the topdown.

LD and GD is pretty close when it comes to "making games" but not so close when comparing salaries. Check Glassdoor, you can see annual salaries for exact jobs. Here's some numbers:

    Blizzard - Senior Level Designer ~$84,000 - http://www.glassdoor.com/GD/Salary/Bliz…=level+designer

    Ubisoft - Level Designer ~$58,000 - http://www.glassdoor.com/GD/Salary/Ubis…=level+designer

So LD and GD saleries in comparison isn't close to each other and they're put under the same category for the survery on Gamasutra that means that those numbers in the compiled survey results doesn't really say that much?

Also, that's a major difference I'd say, between Ubi and Blizz. I wonder what the gaps looks like between Seniors and Juniors - all these questions!

Minos wrapped that up pretty good.

The only thing i'd like to add is it's worth looking at the gamasutra yearly game developer salary surveys to get a little bit of a ballpark on what jobs similar to yours earn.

Last time I checked Gamasutra they took Game Design and Level Design under the same category and to me it feels like it doesn't give me a good picture for what I can expect as a Level Designer.

Does anyone know how much different a Game Designer's salary is compared to Level Design? I'm very curious about this and I don't know where to turn but the salary lists from Gamasutra.

    Edit:

It just struck me: why would you want to put Game Design and Level Design in the same category for wages? Aren't there more Level Designers than Game Designers overall on companies?

So I know I'm a bit after, but I just tried it out. Compared to MTG and other TCGs I really think its good, especially how they streamlined so many things and removed the all so famous "stack" which is always a bitch (and sometimesa mistress) in MTG.

Anyone still playing this and wants their butt kicked? =D

I just want to point out that you label yourself as an Environment Artist yet the first three assets on top of the page is two vehicles and a gun, this gives me a lot more Hard surface 3D artist vibes. I'm not saying you should change order, just that you should be aware and reconsider it. I did notice the date on the assets, but on the second look.

    Also, I like the BTR 90! =)

Mapcore's elite should start a mod team called "Hurg Entertainment" or something like that and prepare to port Half Life 2 to the new Source engine. Named differently of course, like how Black Mesa did it.

Just imagine guys like Kikette and Pene doing textures/props, Seir and KNJ doing scenes and maps, FMPONE making the majority of the maps, Vivi doing gameplay, etc. I'd buy that for a dollar

OR you can make a level PURELY made of reaction gifs!

Seriously though, would be really cool to see all wicked people here doing a collab.

Finished the expansion in two evenings. It was just more of the same, nothing mindblowingly new, but had some cool new enemies and other stuff like those door ways that freeze you. There was nothing that really ever bothered me about playing through it, either. But dont get me wrong, I had a blast, and I feel like it probably went over just a tad too quickly. I would have liked the act to grant me all 10 levels (I was 67 when I approached the final boss, but was told by friends I should wait until 70 to get a 70 legendary).

So I joined some friends who had already beat the game and leveled to 70 in some Adventure Mode. Adventure Mode is awesome. I feel like they really took replay value seriously with it. So good job on that. I will definitively be playing this more than vanilla d3. Only farming paragon levels and items never really enticed me as much as hunting down bosses across the map seems to do.

Overall I think its a solid release. In many ways fixes so many of the problems and issues that vanilla d3 had and I got to say at this point I don't really miss multi player pvp, so I'm fine with you guys not adding that.

I haven't been able to do the Adventure Mode yet but I'm looking forward to it, the replay value has really been a problem with D3 pre-expansion. I remember Blizzard talking on Blizzcon about how the levels were supposed to be procedurally generated so that every run would be a unique experience, though the procedural generation was almost inexistent, so I haven't been all optimistic about the Adventure Mode.

I'm afraid it would be more than a zic-zac of three to five elite packs, a gold chest and possibly a treasure goblin or two - is it more thant that?

Also, have you tried Hardcore mode yet? Those legendaries feels a lot more legendary once you know they all dissapear if you die.

P.S Don't forget to level up clones!

Leveled up the Crusader to 60 yesterday. Gonna have a LAN-party starting today and we all agreed not to play Act V until today. Together. With Beer.

Loving it so far. Really hope to see more expansions like this, maybe a Necromancer?

So what's the Crusader like? Diablo 2 Paladin v2.0?

Yeah holy shit do I miss the Necromancer, all those amazing summon spells.

At first glance I had an idea of assembling a team of 3-4 people and create the coolest map ever with huge moving siege towers and all kinds of crazy stuff but I think it might be to late to start something like that now. Would be really cool though!

Now that you have come so far with these three buttons, can't you just make a really good remake of HOMM II or HOMM III? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease?!

EDIT: Also, nice to see some retro stuff.

That would be awesome, however that's probably really really difficult to do, I can't see myself or anyone I know for that matter top the px-quality of Heroes 2. And the gameplay is pretty much nailed. The only thing I see that it needs is a better multiplayer, like sim-turns and a tech that works better on new comps.

Yeah those sprites are really insane! Pretty, pretty dragons!

Also, I agree the multiplayer is what needs to be fixed somehow. HOMM 6 had some good things going for them, such as being able to buy all your Units from any castle you control, thus removing the need of 20 "transport-unit-heroes", which was really stupid. There are some other stuff that really needs fixing gameplay-wise too, but boy do I love that game-series.
