It's good to know that sales STILL entirely fuck the game. Valve still hasn't fixed this bullshit after YEARS. DMG is entirely unplayable right now, hackers and smurfs galore.

I'm having a lot of fun with the game, though it tends to eat my memory like crazy. Last night it ended up making my pagefile 15gb and somehow didn't free anything when closing. No clue how that even happened.

I would bet that inferno is the next map to be removed. It's the last of the ports from CSS, and the one most needing a facelift. It still has the *new tech* like ridiculously lumpy displacement floors and poorly placed foliage. Dust doesn't have nearly as many issues.

    we de-augmented the preorder

Really though, I'm relieved it was pushed back, right now I forgot this game existed.

For built materials and such, I keep those in a folder that emulates the structure of the game's (I.E. "materials/*" and so on) It makes writing pack files much easier, and after I want to test that I packed all dependencies, I can easily restore the materials and models for use in Hammer. Also in the model source folder I keep a bat file for studiomdl to quickly compile them.

there are reasons beyond not smurfing just because of someone's rank... it's bad mmmkay?

ofc I can't say I'm innocent of this, but I had different reasons and definitely did not abuse the skill gap.

I found the worst players were around the MG skill rank, they were the toughest matches. Mostly everyone who i met at gold nova played better because they had no ego about the game and worked better as a team (admittedly usually under my guidance). Get to MG1 and every one thinks they're fucking get_right, everyone's always letting them down and can't puill their weight, despite the toxic butt hole bottom fragging.

I would rather be gold nova having fun than up here full of egotistical shits where a game is crippled by lack of team cohesion.

As a recent MG: this is very true. If you say anything that goes against the "master plan" (usually 'rush a no sotp'), they will explain to you that you are playing the game wrong/you are bad, etc. Or if they pull dumb garbage and die for it, they will *always* claim anyone playing sensibly is baiting.

I hate that I can't get into the game. I wanted to use Steam Controller, but the game cannot mix controller and mouse inputs (so I can get prompts that make sense while getting accurate aiming). Also Bethesda's official config uses the stick mouse emulation thing (so the touchpad acts like a mouse acting like a stick) that doesn't feel good at all.

Am I the only one that doesn't like using KB+M in this game? I just want to sit back with a controller.

Since people who check this thread probably could help me most here: What's a good fighting stick to start with on PC? Oddly enough, it's not for a fighting game at all (or the most fighting game): it's for Tetris TGM.

I'm looking for something that I could ideally swap out buttons and the stick for Sanwas at some point, also it would be nice to have a 4-way stick.

So far it looks like the Qanba q1 is my best option, at ~$70.

You can turn off mouse acceleration and apparently the framerate is locked which you can turn off in the .ini files

    http://www.gamepur.com/guide/21111-fa…-fov-mouse.html

I'll have to mess with that stuff, but I'm thinking about just using controller. The menus are half of the reason the mouse control feels like shit.

Don't unlock the FPS though! It actually causes many bugs (including some softlocks with terminals). Because apparently that shit is still hard. In 2015. What the fuck.

Interestingly, the FPS lock was a bad assumption on Bethesda's part. It's not locked to 30 fps, it's refresh rate divided by two. I have a 144hz monitor, so my game's locked at 72 fps. What the shit, how do you fuck up your FPS lock?

This game's so disappointing because it's the complete opposite of how previous games were. There isn't the standard Bethesda jank, the game feels solid. It's all technical errors that stem from 2006 "LET'S ADD LAYERS OF SHIT ON OUR INPUT. GOOD IDEA" and "SCALEFORM IS GOOD, RIGHT GUYS" bullshit paired with assumptions based on console hardware.

Input still feels like outright trash, just like Skyrim. :/

Like come on, how do you fuck up mouse input this bad?! I literally could not program something that awful.

I played a little the past two days or so. First was FFA running old rules (no loadouts), having any weapon was very rare. Then I joined about 5 arena servers, none of them let me actually play the game. Then I started up Reflex and had fun.

Maybe they should focus on making QL playable again.

I always sort of dread the vehicle sections, then when I play them I'm just like "oh yeah, it was kinda fun, wasn't it?" or "OH GOD I'M FLYING LET'S JUMP A FUCKING OCEAN BACKWARDS WHILE CROUCHING".

They break up the shooting in a very nice way.

    Santorini's lookin' good!

The white walls look rather flat, though. The lighting isn't helping much, either. IMO the sky should be a bit more saturated (i.e. a deeper blue), the shadows should be a bit more contrasting, and the walls should have specular highlights applied. The palm tree model that ships with the game also is ridiculously desaturated looking, but I don't suppose there's much you'd want to mess with there (maybe some color correction?)

Also, you seem to go a bit nuts with disabling ambient occlusion on walls. Ambient occlusion can look ugly on small surfaces, but can go a long way in portraying depth. Currently mid is looking pretty small as a result.

You all seem to have a far greater understanding of the differences between 64 and 128 tick than I do. Is it possible that the reason I get near constant stuttering and lag (despite an avg ping of around 50) on the Mapcore test server that it's 128 tick? I never have the same problem on official servers, so up until now I had assumed that it was due to poorly optimised maps but all this talk of ticks got my brain ticking. Tock.

That could be if you're joining through steam/any URL rather than the server browser. For some reason, there's a bad memory leak in the game if you join a server that way. A faster tickrate makes the memory leak faster.

Uhh.. if your command (from mouse/keyboard) is getting "in between" the ticks in 64, then it sucks and it's not registered. 128 makes it less likely to happen. It's small time, but small things matter in vidya games like CSGO. Source just works weird with 128 tick on other stuff, like doors and jumping/physics (you can jump easily higher with 128 than 64).

It's an incredibly rare possibility, though. Most players' monitors don't even display within that time (even the best monitors out there get ~1 frame latency at highest refresh rate). 128 ticks/sec is better, but not a really obviously beneficial change.

Most physics bugs were fixed on 128 ticks/sec recently, so that's essentially the same now too.

Surely this would negate a lot of the "tick" issues? 128tick was better because with the old shitty hitboxes they were updated twice as regularly and provided better feedback. Now with the new super accurate hitboxes maybe 128tick wont be as noticeably better?

The whole "64 tick... is a joke..." complaint is people misunderstanding the issue entirely. Valve servers suffer more from plain poor performance plus sync bugs, but this update fixed the sync issues. Of course 128 ticks/sec will still be better, as much as the 7.81ms between ticks helps, which isn't much. If you've ever watched a 120hz strobe, it's apparent how little it would help.
