This is just a symptom of Valve's "fuck you, we're rich" community policy. The only time they do shit is when they're in legal trouble over something. People have literally used Steam curation to harass developers, they still haven't done anything about it. You can literally report someone with a slur for a name, nothing will be done about it. In this case, I can almost guarantee nothing will be done. Steam's "community" is a shithole, so much so that even Valve gave up.

It's ridiculous how deep gambling made it into CS's culture before Valve "noticed" (lmao) it. They literally sponsored events that Valve attended, yet only now do they notify them that they're going against the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

Kind of. Quakespasm won't launch from steam unless you add it as a non-steam app, and I'm guessing Q2 3.24 is the same way.

What can I install to "beautify" them? Run Q2 a few minutes and it doesn't even support fullHD. I had the feeling the gun was also shooting slightly to the left of the crosshair.

I know that Q1 is still very strong and when people post content here looks good, so I imagine there's something on top of the base game. I remember reading in the past about normal mapping support (or along the lines) but never needed to look into the matter further.

    Help? :)

For Quake 1, you'll want to install Quakespasm, which adds larger map and skybox support without the ugly "HD XXXTREME TEXTURE PACK" stuff (and if want to go real nuts, check out Super 8's qbism engine, which extends Quake's original software renderer to support a lot of Quakespasm's upgrades!)

For Quake 2, I'm not entirely sure what to use. It looks like the unofficial 3.24 patch might be a good place to look for some good quality of life improvements while keeping faithful to the original.

Here's the problem: [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/9z4YvLC.png]

This is the AK's firing sound's waveform displayed in Audition. It constantly hits the peak (thus the sound "clips"), which causes a slight click, as the sound cannot be reproduced correctly. This results in terrible distortion, and the sound is simply difficult to listen to. It's like if a model's vertices were chopped off past a certain distance. It's pretty mind blowing that this shipped.

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/2eA4b77.png]

Here's the new Negev's waveform. It only clips in a few tiny spots in one of the channels (a single place in the other!), resulting in a much easier sound to listen to.

The sound's signature shouldn't change very much. The goal of these updates is to make the game easier to listen to for longer.

You can only hear others' low ammo sounds from about 1-16 units away. It has a really hard falloff. Otherwise, it's a great quality of life update. The sound should be changed to a quieter one, though. The current one sounds really bad (like all pre-update CS:GO sounds! The game's initial sound design was/is atrocious!)

    See? It's really not bad!

The gun sound updates are so good. The negev is the only weapon I've ever heard anyone actually discourage for sound reasons. Hopefully the next wave can tackle the AK and AWP, those are some particularly bad sounds.

Zelda is looking really flat. I want to see if it looks any different on NX or something, that has to be why it's not looking so hot, right? Like what happened with the water? Nintendo is really good at water! Some gameplay stuff seems not so great, too. I've never been a fan of equipment degradation, hopefully Nintendo can balance it well. The game could go either way with me in its current condition.

Nintendo's response to the whole female protagonist thing is a bit disappointing. I'd be soo into a female Link or Linkle being in this game!

At some point, I think QC should be something new. We already have Reflex being made by a very competent team, id should be able to reinvent Quake like Doom.

The game still doesn't look great, imo. It's way too dark for how much lighting there is. Every surface reflects like a mirror, but the light hits all of the walls like a brick. The light should be bouncing like nuts.

I'm hoping it ends up being great, though. The shooting looks alright, at least.

It still works well as an interchange format, so w/e. Frankly an engine that loads model files like fbx and obj straight up has fucked up entirely (unity!)

I might as well just learn Blender.

I've been working on a project where I just said fuck it and told everyone to use Trenchbroom 2, which now exports to .obj nicely (so long as you import it into blender and save as a .blend because unity doesn't support multiple meshes in an obj file :|) It works well until you have about a thousand lightmap files because you can't make a good optimized mesh out if it!
