Man, that looks real good. I wonder if a lot of that detail was there before, but just was cut out on last-gen.

Supposedly there's going to be big news regarding this game at that Playstation Experience thing, so I'm hoping that's something good.

Where did you see that? Does that mean, that the update (OP OP OP OP) is near?

Official compatibility old versions are up (along with Dust 1), so maybe even tonight, as the compatibility builds tend to go up same night.

Apparently some Demolition maps are getting updates next patch, I hope I'm not the only one here who totally loves that mode.

Some people are suggesting Valve are waiting until after the next major due to the issues brought about last time by adding a new weapon a couple weeks before a tournament.
No updates could be released then, there's almost always a tournament at least 3 months away, making any map pool changes/weapon additions trivial.

That env art is so good! I definitely see where the future motif is coming in in some of those shots now.

I'm not so into it. It looks like a mess. Sci-fi characters in the 1940s illustration style of TF2 (many of whom don't look great next to each other in the first place), abilities look way too OP/ridiculous (reaper "KILL EVERYTHING" mode, sniper/titsass wallhacks), also the cinematic crew doesn't even know what to do with the art it seems. Cinematics look like Brink, but done well + Big Hero 6, Env art looks like 1940s illustration done extremely well (holy shit those maps look beautiful), then the character art is like Monday Night Combat + more skin tight suits.
Giving FPS the Dota treatment is a super good idea though, and some heroes (Hanzo!) look fun as hell to play. IMO, getting rid of the sci-fi element would do the game well, many characters have real cool motifs that would work well together already, but then the sci-fi stuff kind of ruins it. It looks like they ran out of time for some characters, like the sniper, where it's just "BLUE CHICK WITH BUTT".

Lol looks like I'm not getting FC4 for a while then.

Upgrade to Win8.1 (or 10, when it's out), since that actually has proper hidpi support, though I can't speak to how well that works. Or do you mean cleartext or something?

Really, after all these positive reviews it's just feels like the entire gaming press is on the take. Normally I would trust you guys blindly but I don't know man. To me it still looks and feels like MW1. I don't see any real progress these last 7 years. Call me a hater, fine, but I have to say, all this positive talk reminds of this:

MW1 was a damn good game though!

I haven't taken it online on PS4 yet because I'm still afraid of the PS4 2.00 patch and all the horrible things it supposedly does. They fix that yet?

Sorry if that takes us a bit off topic.
I wouldn't worry too much, it's not like Playstations have been good at turning off the past 8 years. But really, I doubt it will ever brick a console (because that makes no fucking sense), Kotaku is just spreading FUD.

I'm buying this game soon, how is the PC port?
Good, some stuff can look janky/jaggy, and I can't quite figure out what causes it and most anti-aliasing makes it look worse, but supersampling is good looking. There's also a weird mouse bug that seems to grab too much mouse input in a frame, but I imagine a patch is on the way.

lol, that's a good point. Question is, do 8 year old games really support 4k? I'd bet the HUD would look fucked because back then they weren't vectored, among other shit that becomes a problem when you try to render a 4k image at a decent frame rate. Seems like they're actually going through the trouble of making 4k res an actual good experience, and not a hack res you changed the .ini file somewhere.
But what the fuck do i know. lol
I can barely name any 8 year old games at this point.
I bet CoD 2 could do it, plus the hud was mostly vector fonts so it won't look that bad. A bunch of games back then didn't have m/any res options, though. Looking at games in the past three or four years, Scaleform took the fuck over so lots of stuff looks p decent. -

PC gets 4k support tho, which is awesome.
What a bs selling point though, practically every game released in the last 6-8 years support 4k. It's mostly a question of ui scaling (most games have no issue as it's 16:9)+driver support (p sure all drivers rn support 4k).
But hey, I heard that the PC version SUPPORTS MOUSE AND KEYBOARD HOLY SHIT.
