Alright, I said this was a good port, but whoever did input handling should be punched. A: Why does the game need to emulate a cursor? Windows has a fucking cursor you can use that doesn't lag. B: When the game is running, everything I type comes out super laggy in steam and background apps. Don't know how that happened. C: Why is caps lock a default bind?! And why is it not dependent on caps lock's state?! Caps lock can be inverted because of that, which is kind of annoying when the game has text chat.

So for science I tried out using a Dualshock 4 with no wrapper, it works perfectly. Cool shit. Damn good port.

the map test is going to be deserted tomorrow.
I'm being really picky, but is there any way the mapcore logo doesn't have that white ring around the middle on the team emblem?
"T's spawn in a bombsite? Perfect! Alright, bye!"
I will stick an alt black ring version up, but I can't do much past that. Sadly you can't use layers as masks and such.

Here's the latest build of Stadium for Thursday
-
Oh hey, the game unlocks at 12:00 BST on the 14th, which for me means Monday

EDIT: ummm the date would probably be helpful
-
Can I get a slot on the 16th for Stadium?

aaaaaaaaaand a month later, I'm almost ready with another build!

Here's the layout. I added two new upper paths for T's, relocated the food court doors to the horseshoe thingy, raised the roof at A, made the map a little shorter (though it's still long), and messed with T timings a bunch, among other things.

I'm totally down for some GTA Online if the netcode can deal with my american pings

Can you imagine if something like that launched with default Q1? History could have been altered
Here's an example of what stock Quake can do, this is Skacky's map from retrojam 2 running in my minimal port:

Compare that to Quakespasm:

Yeeeaaahhh, a Pentium may have been on fire trying to deal with that.
also GL_NEAREST/GL_NEAREST_MIPMAP_NEAREST 4 life, that looks amazing, Skacky!

The playtest today started off rough. As usual, the server filled very quickly, which isnt bad for the playtest but important for the later part of my story.
Anyways, I feel like the playtest today and some of the more recent ones start to fail to achieve the quality that the playtest once had - even though the plugin improved the overall feedback system a lot.
If it wasnt for that one incident today, maybe this discussion wouldnt have started but basically we have now people on the server that are behaving as if they were playing on any random public server.
I'm not dropping names, but generally this regards even somebody that did give some feedback, then started fooling around like hiding in spawn or asking team mates to die in order to "clutch", essentially, wasting everybodys time on the server while not bringing anything productive towards the playtest. Some people stay very quiet throughout the game which is fine, of course, but I dont see them post in the respective thread after the PT either... I understand that the purpose of these playtests has always been that they are public and nobody other than the mapmaker should be priotized to play. But recently, the number of "random" people has grown. And I really do not want to insult anyone with that word, it's just some word to describe people that I havent seen actively giving feedback nor participating on the forums. I personally do not mind too much, but I just think it won't benefit the playtests in the long run.
I think Vaya (?) caught on to my suggestion of making the playtests "invite only" and suggested posting a new password each time in this thread when a playtest starts for the 9pm reminder post. That way, it would at least gurantee that the people that are playing are actually checking the forum thread and care enough to do a playtest. A more complicated system would be a hand-picked honor system for people that apply in a seperate thread/via PM and can provide evidence in the form of feedback posts they made on the forums. Those players could either get priotized access or if it becomes a large enough amount, it could be the actual requirement to be able to participate in a playtest (whitelist system). While that wouldnt necessarily increase the quality of the feedback, it would at least increase the amount.
Anyways, these were just some suggestions that originated in a discussion today during the PT due to a few instances of people going AFK while the server is full or people not doing a fine job actually testing the maps.
The problem with this is that the server is essentially a resource. Certainly a community evolved around it, but making it super exclusive seems a little dickish. 'vip' slots also tend to be shitty, sucks for someone to get kicked out midgame.
I've been a little annoyed with how quick the server fills, though. Being stuck in spec sucks, allchat still doesn't seem to work.
When did this stuff start up? I popped in late after class (after not playing for a little while over spring break), and people just seemed kind of angry at the end of the first map. Has this been just today, or the past week or so?

use "workshop_publish" in the console in-game. The workshop publisher tool was replaced a while ago with that.

I used one from CS:GO, but if you need to create a skybox texture i would recommend Terragen. I havn't used it in forever though.
I think firegod use's it to create his skyboxes: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3779442/Skyb…ox_list_v2.html
ah yea! Thanks!
(weird, it seems to be missing from the official list: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Counter-S…ensive_Sky_List - what's the actual name of it used in Hammer? Thanks in advance
)figured it out! thanks

Someone should really edit that sky list, it's missing everything from post-release CS:GO.

I asked this before but I don't think anyone replied. Just qoute me in the answer. DO you have to be there for the playtesting? or can people just play your map and send feedback to the map thread.
You can, but it's much better to be there. We tend to be a lot more critical when the author's not there, so be ready for that. Make sure you at least have the basics down (radar, clipping, decent lighting, etc).

I dont get why they just dont expand the active duty list
Then map picks could almost entirely determine a tourney's outcome. 7 maps is a good sweet spot for teams to be prepared with. This already is happening a lot with Nuke, seems that EU players are avoiding it like the plague.
What's up with the sudden Nuke love though? like a week ago everyone absolutely hated it.

Fuck, that was our map though! Now the U.S. has no maps to play!
Edit: lol reddit's so mad right now
